Michael Gaertner Architects provides architectural and interior design services, planning and project management of real estate development design and construction projects. The firm specializes in unique or especially difficult projects including historic rehabilitation or "fast-track" construction and has successfully completed nearly $200 million in historic development since its founding.
We have special experience in Master Planning. Two projects are the now completed rehabilitation of the historic E.S. Levy building as artist live-work space, and the Clubhouse for the Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson. We have completed the facade renovation of the Hotel Galvez, the third major phase in the rehabilitation of this historic structure and a new Spa in the ground floor.
Michael Gaertner founded the firm of Michael Gaertner Architects after graduating from Texas A&M University in 1977, and practicing with several small and medium sized firms. Michael D. Gaertner, Sr., AIA, is a Registered Architect (Registration #9342) in the State of Texas and is licensed in Colorado (#401773).

Services
Residential projects are an important part of our practice at Michael Gaertner Architects. Unlike a hotel or office building where the users and the client are usually different people, residential projects are usually inhabited by the clients. We enjoy getting to know our clients and what they want from their houses.
This project was designed just prior to Hurricane Ike and shelved after the storm. It would have been 30 dwelling units above a two level parking structure, the design is based on Spanish Colonial Revival. The Trinity County Courthouse began with a comprehensive Master Plan, prescribing design guidelines and a timeline for completion of the project.

My project was, and is suppose to be small ( Simple and pretty quick) On October 9th, 2020 I hire Mr. Gaertner.
Project was suppose to take approx. 2 months. Which I was seeing progress at that time.
Now As of today May 10th, 2021 It has not been completed yet. after long periods of non communication We finally met on March, 2021. At that time on March my project was at its final stage.
It just needed a few more hours of work. He said he would have it ready in 2 or 3 days. 2 to 3 Weeks went by Mr.

Mr. Gaertner wrote a set of design guidelines for our HOA then immediately disregarded the very design guidelines he wrote in the first home he submitted. Very sloppy work - look elsewhere.
For further examples of Mr. Gaertner's work, please see reviews of David Mullican for a specific address. Mr. Mullican designed to Mr. Gartners guidelines. There are fake painted windows on the side of the house and it sagged 18 inches in less than a year.

We hired Michael Gaertner Architects to do drawing for our beach house. The drawing were exactly what we wanted and we're very happy with the layout of the house. Mr. Gaertner was very accommodating and easy to work with. Furthermore, he has helped us so much with the City and the building process. We highly recommend!
