Finding a good, honest plumber to maintain your home is crucial. Based on recommendations, I hired Purdy Plumbing. I initially spoke with Tammy to schedule an appoint. She is very friendly and easy to work with. Richard fixed a leak in my filtration system and three leaking spouts on the outside of my house. Purdy Plumbing is an honest, family-owned company. They seem to care about getting the job done properly. Richard even took the time to explain how water flowed to the filtration system and the proper way to shut off water to my house.

I had a bid yesterday from another plumbing company in Tacoma. It was to repair a leaking outside faucet for a hose hook up. He looked at it and then wanted to see the basement. Came back up and said the whole house needed to be repiped/plumbed We have copper piping. At a cost of over $24,000. I almost fell over. We are both retired and my husband has Parkinson's disease. Not something we wanted to hear in our golden years. Today I called Purdy Plumbing told her the story without mentioning names. She said I know who this is and she was right. They are well known on scamming their customers

I Find it interesting that of the 12 negatives reviews In Yelp that Lori's responses are all defensive and point to the customer being the problem. How can this be in every case? Here's what I experienced. Discrimination as a woman. When I escalated an issue and asked to speak to the owner he was completely condescending and asked to speak to my husband at one point when he thought I wasn't understanding him. Awesome company! Had a backup in our bath. Called Purdy and Richard came out that day. When he got here water had begun pooling on the floor so he jumped to help track down cause. Thinking it was septic, called Express who cleaned out as much as they could. Still had water so called Purdy who found time to come out same day again. After snaking drain they cleared the blockage and saved the day. Highly recommend!

I called with an emergency for a leak. I spoke to a nice lady to set an appointment but she needed to call me back. The next call was her going over rates with until she was interrupted by the plumber. He was rude and rushing me to make a decision as he stated he is already busy. I was going to go with them and needed to call them back to cancel my previous appointment and before I could hang up, I heard him in the background saying we’re not going to go out there etc. it’s nice to know when you call for service, you might be wasting there time. After getting a $590 water bill and being unable to find the issue on my own, I reached out to several plumbing companies for help. Many were happy to head out to help me find the problem. I would use Purdy Plumbing again in a heart beat (if needed!)-- they called to confirm I was using a home warranty for my hot water tank and asked a few questions, very friendly! They said they would call back after looking at the schedule. A few minutes later I got a call from the plumber asking if he could come now and he said he wasn't far away, thankfully that worked out. 6 weeks without hot water. We have been working through our supplemental home warranty provider, which ran us around for weeks. 1.5 hour wait times on hold just for step one. Anyway, 1 plumber, 1 electrician and 4 weeks later, Rich at Purdy came by and said that our tankless hot water heater needed to be replaced. Pretty shoddy original install in the end. So they shuffled their heavy work schedule and got us a new, upgraded water heater. The customer service was excellent and I felt great confidence in their knowledge. I used my home warranty to fix a plumbing leak in my bathroom. There was weird miscommunication between what I'd told the home warranty company and what they told Purdy, but we got that cleared up on the scheduling call.
They were flexible with my schedule and were at my home on time. They wore masks and kept everything clean.
Not only did they fix the leak, they also discovered that somehow the hot and cold water was revered in the shower, so they fixed that at the same time.
They happily talked me through the repair and showed me what they did. I would use them again.

Never thought it would be possible for a visit from a plumber to make me happy but this one did. I recently sprung a leak and had to call for professional help. These guys fixed the problem on the first visit and really put me at ease during the process. They were patient, prompt, thorough, communicative, pleasant, and very fairly priced. Really do not like to do this to a local company that I am trying to support. Service poor - asked for what seemed to be simple plumbing projects to be done - basically was told the project was much larger that it seemed and was supposed to come back to me with a basic quote on an installation. I paid for a service call ($166) and never heard back despite several requests. Called another plumbing service (not as local) who proceeded to take care of the basic repair (the was over complicated by Purdy P.) and provided details of the installation with quote. This business was recommended to me, however, I found that their charge for a service I had previously had done two week prior was ,over twice the price or another plumber. It took two weeks to order a part and complete a job, causing a slow down in other work. The plumber sent was competent, but had a nasty attitude towards me and expressed it. I was paying him--look elsewhere.

Richard came out to my house to work on two jobs. The hard one was a faceplate on a shower valve. Unlike the previous plumber, Richard realized that the cartridge was not originally installed quite right and invented a fix that saved the problem. After going through two other companies, one big and one small, I believe that I have found my plumber.

They came out to my house to do the repair in the first man was very nice but didn't have the proper equipment to finish the job. So he left the next person that came over was horrible and nasty and rude and they literally left feces all over the floor and didn't clean up the mess that they made. I have had Purdy Plumbing out three times. Once was a small job. Once a major job. Yesterday they came to replace my water heater. I can't say enough good things about these people. They are friendly, helpful and timely. They show up when they say they are going to show up. There are no hidden fees. The quality of the work and the cleanup afterward has been excellent. Sadly I didn't listen to the previous reviews. This company overcharges and does horrible work. I paid $1400 to have a gas line and kitchen sink put in. They both leaked. After standing me up twice, 4 kitchen floods and no oven for almost two weeks they came out, angry. I had already hired a handyman to fix both problems for half of what I paid them, I asked to be reimbursed for that expense and they called me a liar and told me to call someone else next time. I had to threaten to sue to get them to agree to send me a check. Worst customer service I have ever had in ANY industry. Please do

When trying to fix my outdoor leaking hose bib, they turned my water-well psi up because they said I needed more water pressure to stop my hose bibs from leaking. He said he didn't work on well-systems, but he worked on it anyway and turned up the psi. I hired a water-well company to come out afterward and they said the plumber turned up the psi way over what it's supposed to be - could have been damaging if I didn't get the water-well guy right out to do it right.

Purdy Plumbing is a family owned and operated company. My family tries to support local/small business when we can. I called them and said I needed a shower pan installed and a hot and cold supply dropped out of the ceiling. They did not want to come out and bid it but they quoted $1500 which was fine with me.
They showed up two hours late on the date scheduled. When he got there he realized the scope was different than they expected based on a phone call. (FYI-that's why you go to the site and bid!) Big surprise... He left after an hour and rescheduled for another day.
