Smelly Mel's Plumbing
Despite its name, Smelly Mel's San Mateo Plumbing Service keeps all buildings and budgets smelling like a rose. Smelly Mel's owner Travis has not lasted this long and made it this far by being second best. He re-earns his rightfully sterling reputation for top-notch San Mateo plumbing service every day.

Many people try to fix their drain problem on their own, and usually make a big mess in the process. This can be dangerous and costly and homeowners can end up paying out more money than they have. Since some plumbing accessories are made of plastic, acids and commercial cleaners could cause severe damage to indoor plumbing.

When this happens, repair charges could reach an estimate $1,000 or more. To avoid paying unnecessary fees contact Smelly Mel's Plumbing Company today and let them fix your plumbing problem. Saved Big on Sewer Our place had sewage bubbling up from the floor inside, causing a terrible mess and bad odor, to say the least.

Smelly Mel's San Mateo Plumbing - Your Solution For Sewer Repair The smell of a backed up sewer coming through your drainpipes is pungent and awful.
Despite its name, Smelly Mel's Plumbing Service keeps all buildings-and budgets-smelling like a rose. Fly-by-night operators are here today and long gone by tomorrow. Water heaters have with time, become a normal part of every day life in the world of today. It is difficult to determine what life would be like without one. Unfortunately, however, these units tend to break from time to time. Even if a unit is not entirely broken, when it is improperly maintained it can be more expensive to use than necessary, due to an excessive use of energy for its operation.
Anyone who has owned or rented a home or office for some period of time realizes the numerous critical levels of damage that water can create when it finds its way to where it does not belong. Not only is the property itself at risk, but documents and furniture and other possessions are also exposed as well.
For most homeowners, restroom remodeling holds bottom priority as a home improvement project. After all, most folks spent relatively little time on the toilet in comparison to the rest of their home's living area. Giving your lavatory a face-lift can lift your spirits considerably - not to mention the utility and size of its usable space.

I guess I shouldn't be too mad. The name of their business kind of sets expectations that their service will stink. But...to just completely no-show with no contact for an appointment is completely unacceptable. Absolutely nothing positive to say about them. I guess they are just testament as to how far a kitschy business name will get you.

Needed help while visiting my parents home unclogging a toilet and called in and got great customer service from the get go, plumbers came within the scheduled time frame that was given and the plumbers got the job done. Very kind and professional. I would highly recommend this company for all your plumbing needs!

Fantastic fast services! Nice professional help. Only downside the prices are quiet high but for a must needed emergency plumbing we'd would use again!

They were supposed to show up between 10 and 12pm today after setting an appointment with them a few days back and they never showed up. I'm glad it wasn't an emergency. I tried to call them but no one picked up and I left a message and never got a call back. It would appear that they are a flaky company and wonder if there work is flaky as well.

I called, they answered and said can you hold for a minute, I said sure and waited 5 plus minutes then hung up. Perhaps customer service isn't a top priority here.

I'm remiss in not posting this review sooner, but I do like to wait a bit after using someone's service to let the dust settle and see how everything works out. Last fall (Oct. 2015), we were planning our front yard landscaping project (tear out the lawns, put in low maintenance, drought tolerant plantings and rock gardens, etc.) and because of our local sewer lateral replacement ordinance, we decided to pro-actively replace the sewer lateral as a first step, rather than have to tear up our new landscaping to do it at a later time.

We got three referrals from the city for plumbing companies

Estimate over $800 for two hour job just to replace two bathroom faucets and handheld shower head. Seriously?? Refused.

They did a fine job for us some months ago, unclogging and doing a scope (at our request) of our kitchen drain line, to inspect the old iron pipes under our house. I had no problem with the service level or the price. Just thought I'd provide a counter-example from what I'm seeing here on Yelp.

Our situation was forced upon us by the City of Belmont. An ordinance was passed last year that stated any sewer lateral work that needed to be done would now be the responsibility of the homeowner. This ordinance was passed AFTER the City had inspected the main sewer line and found a lot of laterals offset.

So, needless to say, we were all caught off guard and only given 45 days to get the work done! The City did provide a list of plumbing companies and Smelly Mel's was on that list. After going back and forth with the City we were able to get them to extend the deadline in order to

This crew was contracted by the seller's agent for my Pacifica house to do the required sewer lateral work. They had to return twice at my request to repair the collapsed line that was flowing water for over a week. The front was sauturated and a few months later the vegetation is dying.

I sent them my first, as expected exhorbinant, water bill through my agent. They have the chutzpah to ask for the subsequent bill, in essence challenging my claim that they wasted my water that is now on my bill. This outfit has no shame.

These guys are thieves and they will rip you off in a second. I was overcharged 9,000 dollars over my estimate and I don't think they did anything much less what they were supposed to do. I will never ever call this company again. Do not use this company you will be ripped off. I think the guys name was Travis and he was nothing but a con man thief. I will never do business with them again. They have no care for the customer whatsoever.

My whole experience is this: I called them cause I saw them working on my neighbors one day. I was having trouble with the pipe out to the street

A water heater that they installed less than 2 years ago had a pilot light that stopped lighting. It was covered under the manufacturer's warranty, but this company wants to charge almost $300 to replace the part. $300/hr for labor?! Are you kidding me. A brand new water heater cost around $350.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

They were VERY prompt in coming to my home and seemed to know what they were talking about. They quoted me $650 to replace my gas water heater. Just for the work, not the tank. That is about $200 more than any other plumber I contacted.
I'm a little concerned that a straight forward job that originallyt took the other guys about 2 hours to do, would cost such much more than all the other estimates.

Had gotten a good referral for Smelly Mel's but haven't been able to get them to commit or even give me a quote.

Called mid November, they came out end of November (2 hour time window, they sent two people out -- who didn't arrive until of course the end of the 2-hour time window.) They said they'd send another guy out but he didn't need to come in.

Two weeks later, called because there's no quote. They can't find my file.

Two days later they call back to setup another appointment to come see the place and are sending someone else out for the quote!!
