Services
Our customer base continues to increase every year, and our service area now covers all of southern Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. MJ's Lawn Service is owned and operated by Mike Toll and Jon McMasters. We started the business while classmates together at Salem High School, mowing lawns to earn extra money.
MJ's will service your lawn on a weekly basis for the months of April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November, and as needed for the months of March and December. Your lawn service will be scheduled on the same day of each week. In the event of inclement weather, service will be scheduled for the next available day.

Our lawn care service is available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, please note that most treated and watered lawns will require weekly service.
There are literally hundreds of mowers on the market, and most are not the right one for maintaining your residential property. Many of our competitors use zero turn riding lawn mowers, or "Z" mowers. These mowers are designed for mowing larger properties and acreage. For the smaller residential properties in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake though, they are simply too big.

We started their service in July and used them the remainder of the summer because our son was born. We had a few issues with them. The first issue was they charged us for weed services that was never preformed (we have cameras and saw the entire service) we contacted the company they acknowledged and never reimbursed us for the charges. We let that go and continued their services due to their 4 cut minimum. We had our yard seeded so we canceled services for a month or so while the seed took. When services returned they came on a Saturday while we were gone (we were told that they would never come

Been with this company for the 3 years weve been stationed in VA since it was Cost Cutters and now changed to MJ's, and noticed in the very beginning it was hard to get ahold of someone directly in order to request for additional services. Company is unresponsive to customers and has issues with quality and communication. Needed a new landscaper after our other one wasn't cutting it (pun intended). Shopped around but everyone wanted to sign me up for an expensive long term contract which i didn't want. Jon made it easy because they DON'T DO contracts!!! He quickly came out, gave me pricing, and was very professional. His team works very well and accomindated our irrigation schedule. I have bermuda grass and they cut it to the height i like. They clean up after there done and don't leave a mess. Billing is made easy visa CC and email billing. I communiate via email and they always answer me back the same day.

I contacted MJ's Lawn Service on the 15th of August and received a voicemail back from Mike on the 16th asking me to call him with my home address and email address so he could shoot me over a price list. Immediately, I called back and left a voicemail with the information he requested. I also sent a text with the information just incase the voicemail wasn't clear for any reason, I wanted to make sure he had the address and email. It's now the 31st and I have yet to hear back. This is my first time using MJ's lawn Service and I'm very pleased that I did. Their staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help you with deciding what is best for your lawn without the worry of being overpriced or haggled to pay for a service you don't need. Their work is flawless and if you are still not pleased for whatever reason, they will work with you until you are satisfied. There's not too many businesses you come across these days that are honest and committed to their customers but I can say with confidence that MJ's is one of those businesses.
