Fitch Architecture & Community Design
Sustainable and socially responsible design has been the hallmark of our practice since our inception. Our projects include net zero energy homes, educational facilities, commercial buildings, institutional deep energy retrofits, and cohousing communities. We are certified as a Women Business Enterprise with the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office and have received numerous awards for green design and development.

We've strengthened our commitment to curbing global climate change, focusing our work on designs that dramatically reduce fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of the built environment. We were named one of the Top Ten Green Architects in North America by Natural Home and Garden, and have received numerous awards for green design and development.
Services
Fitch Architecture and Community Design is a firm of team players, dedicated to working collaboratively with clients, consultants, and permit officials for each and every project. We are committed to understanding each site and the natural environment and keeping up to date on building science as well.
At Fitch Architecture and Community Design (established in 2000 as Kraus Fitch Architects), we believe that quality architecture, programming and master planning involve carefully listening to and meeting of clients' needs. We choose to be active stewards of our community and planet by focusing our practice on projects that are ecologically and socially relevant.
Our byline, "Home - Community - Planet" recognizes that there are usually three scales in design problems and solutions that need to be held simultaneously. We like to keep in mind the big picture (of the environment and our client's vision) even as a project develops from the building scale to the construction details.
Fitch Architecture and Community Design (FACD) is one of the most respected and experienced cohousing firms in North America. Laura Fitch discovered her interest in cohousing during a trip to Denmark in 1980. She is a resident of Pioneer Valley Cohousing in Amherst, Massachusetts.
At Fitch Architecture & Community Design, we choose to be active stewards of our community and planet by focusing our practice on projects that are ecologically and socially relevant. We are always looking for exceptional designers and architects, who share this vision and have an additional interest in cohousing, to join our team.
