Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value
Old Colony came to my home this morning to look at our heating system which was not functioning properly. They sent two men who after 10 minutes of looking at the boiler decided it needed to be replaced, for $8000. We had another company come for a second opinion 3 hours later - they fixed the system in the same amount of time.

Tech told me he would be there at 8am the next day. I set my alarm to be up
before that. At 10 am I called to see where they were. He denied he said he would be there at 8 am and then said he called me and nobody answered. I was sitting by my phone the whole morning, no call was made. He was very rude and when I cancelled my appointment.

WARNING !! DO NOT TRUST THIS CONTRACTOR. On October 13, 2020 we signed a contract with Bill at Cox Old Colony, to install a Mitsubishi ductless AC/heat system, 2 units and condenser. We gave him a check for cost of all the equipment, "to purchase the units and condenser". He told me he ordered it immediately same day. I waited, ...I waited,... I called,.... months went by. Still no system. So many promises to come but always a - NO SHOW. Phone call, after phone call. March 30,2021 after so many phone contacts he delivered only the 2 wall units and proceeded to ask for more money, thousands

Had a negative experience. Repaired furnace last November. Assured that the work was warranted 2 years. Paid cash and got receipt. Just shy of a year... had no heat. On the phone I was told it wasn’t covered under warrantee and they didn’t know when they could come out.
Did come out and was very reactive to me asking questions. Ended up leaving in his reactivity. He was accusing me strangely and it was very unexpected. I would not have trust in this company. It’s mutual as he said he would not do work on my property again.

They get 1 star for showing up when they said they would but that is where anything positive ends.
I have renovated and sold over 30 homes and commercial properties over the last 10 years. My go to HVAC contractor retired so I needed someone to look at my own home because one of the units was blowing warm air and the unit would not hold any gas.
My retired contractor told me that there was a leak in the coil in the air handler in the attic and that the coil needed to be replaced. (please note that my previous contractor had been in the attic on 3 occasions and had told me he could see the hole

Phoned on 9/25, asked if they serviced my area (they did), and made an appointment on 9/27 to have a rusting vent pipe replaced. Was told they charge $140 fee but it would be deducted off of the cost of the job. I agreed. The owner, Bill, phoned me to discuss the job and said he would speak with his sheet metal guy. I said I had just set the appointment for this Friday at 9 am and he said 'well, that's what it is then'.
Friday comes and no one showed up at 9am. No one showed up at 10am. No call either. I called later Friday and got an answering service. I was told someone would call

We finished renovations on half of the bathroom before we realized we were going to need to make some changes to the plumbing. We called Cox and they came out to give us an assessment. Then they completed the work at the rate they promised and were so good about helping us make plans for routine maintence too. Great people.

Old Colony is my 1-stop shop for HVAC. I own 3 rentals in South Boston and Cox's # is in my rolodex as a preferred vendor because of their quality workmanship and reliability. It's easy to get through to them and get an appointment, too. Other companies I get scheduled 3-4 weeks out which is ridiculous. Cox's has the manpower to get the job done for me quickly.
