Rankin Landscaping Inc was founded by company owner Terry Rankin in 1986. As a college student taking up a business course, Terry learned that 50% of all startup companies fail within the first year and a whopping 95% of the remainder fails within the first five years. However, he didn't let these statistics get in the way of his dream of becoming a business owner.

The owner of this company came to plow the streets at South Cove in Dumfries, VA while my brother, myself, and our neighbors were outside shoveling the snow from our sidewalks and parking spots. After my brother and I cleared our parking spot for our disabled mother to park once she got home, he proceeded to plow snow from our neighbors spot into ours. We were inside at the time but our neighbors told him not to and he responded “I have nowhere else to put it” (a lie) and then left the snow and left our neighborhood. My brother (who has a dislocated shoulder) then proceeded to call him to request

This man is awful. He sat in his truck and watched my son and disabled daughter, who has one arm, shovel my parking spot and then he proceeded to move the snow into my cleared spot, after two of my neighbors and my son told him he couldn't put the snow there. I called him to try to resolve the issue and have him come back to move the snow, as I am disabled and need to park close to my residence, this rude man hung up the phone on me. Looks like he's a one man operation. Don't waste your money on this very unprofessional man!!!

I've worked with Terry and Brett for a number of years, and they've always delivered great service. I've had them provide guidance and insight on landscape designs to control erosion (as my house is on a hill), install a French drain, establish rock walls spanning more than 100' of property, and various other efforts. Very honest and trustworthy guys - and I like that they're a family-owned small business. I feel as if they're more focused on providing higher quality service than squeaking out the extra buck. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
