Fixtures become beautiful when bulbs are on and off. Come in medium base, E26. Due to regulations on (wonderful) incandescent bulbs, we're now only able to offer them in 25w. We've been experimenting with LED bulbs to replace the higher wattages no longer available. Higher cost, but with far longer life!

Painted bulbs were an early method to soften the light from normally clear and unfrosted bulbs. They are as lovely when not lit as when lit. Medium base, E26. These were made by the Lincoln Manufacturing Company of Detroit Michigan in the mid 1930s. A very clever design where the shades can be installed with the open portion either up or down, hence the "two-in-one" name. The sconce can only be attached to the wall as shown.
Services
Filament Vintage Lighting started restoring light fixtures in Seattle in 2001. We started in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood and for many years sold at Pacific Galleries Antique Mall, Seattle's premiere antique destination. We've since relocated our primary location to Los Angeles. Our first love has always been art deco lighting of the 1930s, but we've also expanded into arts and crafts and a bit of custom and industrial pieces.
Over time plugs, wiring and sockets wear out, get damaged, and need replacing. If you bought an old fixture at a flea market that was marked "works", you definitely should have it rewired for safety. The base charge for new wiring is $25 in labor plus the cost of parts. No two projects are alike, but simple parts for a basic lamp are very inexpensive.
In the 1920s and 30s shaded light had become the desired style, and bulb companies began finding ways to soften the light instead of clear glass around a bare filament. GE introduced painted bulbs as part of their "Mazda" bulb line to give bare light bulbs some color and make them fixture look great even when turned off.
Over time plugs, wiring and sockets can wear out, get damaged, and often need replacing. If you bought an old fixture at a flea market or estate sale that was marked "works", you definitely should have it inspected for safety if not have it entirely rewired. The base charge for wiring is 30 minutes in labor plus the cost of parts.
If you have an old fixture that has not been in use, or is not working properly, checking it for electrical safety is a wise idea for at least peace of mind. Old brittle wiring and old sockets should be replaced if not in good condition. Our shop is not certified by Underwriter Laboratories. However, if you have a project that requires a UL listing, that is available for an additional nominal fee.
