In the 1980s, Al, Gary, and Kathy Barnum operated a bail bond company on Court Avenue in Des Moines called Barnum Bail Bonds. After closing that business, the father and son duo, Al and Gary, began talking about going into business together again. Gary had been working in carpentry for several years, but both desired the benefits of owning their own business.

We are exceptionally happy with the job that Barnum Floors did! Their attention to detail was evident. Many people told us about refinishing the hardwood floors and how much dust there was. I can tell you Barnum Floors made my experience much different. I was so impressed to see you that they taped off all of my cabinetry and doors to the other parts of my house so that the dust could not infiltrate. We presented a challenge of matching two different species of wood to look as it was the same and they miraculously did it. They are truly craftsman in all that they do. Can’t say thank you enough

I have worked with these guys for years - they do an amazing job!! Gary, Kathy and the whole staff are so easy to work with and they stand behind everything that they do. I've always been impressed with their knowledge of products and their attention to detail in lacing in to existing floors and matching existing stains. I highly recommend them.

It was the most professional experience I’ve ever had working with any home remodel company. They refinished my floors and installed a new area of hardwood. The installers even noticed that the first wood delivered wouldn’t be an exact match. From what I could tell the wood looked exactly the same but they made the change and it is insane how much this wood matches the old wood. They made all these changes before even sanding off the old hardwood so it didn’t affect the timeline at all. They communicate so well and give you updates on schedule almost every week. We had an wonderful experience from planning to installation. They kept us informed of the schedule early and along the way. We had our existing hardwood refinished and new hardwood installed in two rooms that were carpet. They did an excellent job blending the floors together. I would highly recommend them for your hardwood flooring project.

Our experience with Barnum Floors was exceptional. This is a family owned business and their dedication to providing great customer service is evident! As part of a kitchen remodel, we were needing to replace some existing areas of wood flooring and add new flooring to an area that previously had carpet. The wood we originally used was discontinued. Barnum installed new unfinished ash flooring and then refinished the entire main floor so that everything matched perfectly. While the quality and appearance of our wood refinishing by Barnum Floors is aesthetically pleasing and professionally done, our frustrations throughout the process competed with and almost overshadowed the end result. The areas of customer service, scheduling, and repair work could definitely be improved upon.
