CGI began in 2006 by Shane Coohey. Shane, from Dyersville, IA, came to the Iowa City area in 1996 and began framing residential homes and later began general contracting then started Coohey Construction in 2001. A customer in 2006 expressed the desire to have epoxy flooring in his garage and Shane began training in epoxy installation and saw a need for epoxy flooring in the area and decided to begin this venture in 2006.

Durability: One of the best qualities of epoxy floors is its durability and resistance to wear and tear. CGI floors offer all of the durability of epoxy flooring including high compression strengths. They will also not warp, buckle, or flake like some other flooring options. Additionally, stained concrete floors are ultraviolet light resistant to resist fading or discoloration.
Epoxy flooring from CGI is an excellent way to take your space from ordinary to extraordinary!. Our epoxy flooring is a composition of multi-colored vinyl chips embedded in a pigmented base coat and sealed in a clear glaze. You choose both the colors and size of the chips to compliment your individual decor.
The solid color epoxy floor is an attractive yet strong alternative to standard gray concrete. Some people call it garage floor paint, the actual product is called an epoxy floor coating. The worst company and people to work with. Shane doesn’t care about his customers what so ever and it shows!! The simple matter of scheduling an appointment is truly a hassle with him. He canceled on me twice (with short notice) when both days I took time out of my day/work to meet with him. In fact, I’m still waiting for him to reschedule (since 6/20) but he never got back to me. This company is a joke please keep looking and take your business to professional people who truly value their work and customers because this company is a joke.

This company is great! So easy to work with! Shane was fast to respond to my emails. His team showed up on time and communicated with me throughout the process. They even came back the next week when we found some missing spots. They fixed everything quickly and gave us some tips for future care. Would definitely recommend them!
