Services
A strong landscape design is the basis for a livable backyard, an extension of the house. We are a landscape design firm with the vision of creativity to transform an ordinary yard into a unique living environment. By specializing in sustainable designs, a minimum of resources is used (water, materials, fossil fuels, fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, etc), while cost and maintenance are reduced.
The Concept Design starts at step one and creates an environment from scratch. While sitting down and discussing your likes and dislikes, an outdoor living area is personalized to your lifestyle. There are many options for this outdoor space. Walls can be torn down or created, planting beds and paths can be created or relocated, and hardscape features added.
The planting plan is created once the concept design has been completed. It involves plant selection for the landscaped areas of the concept design. The plant palette is selected in this part of the design process, based on your likes and dislikes, thus creating a very personal design. It is detailed for the type and size of the plant or tree, and the exact location for planting (see example below).
When I was looking to have my back yard redone I was skeptical about hiring a professional designer because I wasn't sure it was worth the time, effort and money. I ended up hiring Glenn because he was extremely professional, very reasonably priced (especially for the amount of time he puts in) and overall just one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

We just finished a large landscape project where Black Mountain Landscape Design was our design contractor. We were extremely impressed with everything about the work that Glenn from BMLD did for us. The initial consultation, the three different professional drafts of the design, the expertise about plants that would work well in our yards, the excellent recommendations regarding contractors to do the installation, and the day Glenn spent working with that contractor staging everything -- all first class. And the price was very reasonable, as well, for professional, responsive, high-quality work
