Our founder, Brian Barretto, was born and raised on Kauai and because he is a "local boy" at heart, he takes pride in every job, no matter how small. Brian started as a handyman and landscaper in 1996. He moved into property management where his knowledge in repairs helped owners and tenants.
He's worked tirelessly to learn all he could in the construction field and since then, has gained years of knowledge and experience in not only repairs but building and renovations, as well.Brian received his Contractor's License in August of 2013 and in 2015 converted from an individual contractor to an LLC where he holds his second Contractor's License.

Brian Installed a new roof on our building 4 years ago. $30k++. Not a small job.
Just found a damaged valley which has caused dry rot under shingles and at the eave. Not trivial.
No one has been on the roof since new roof was installed so while we're not sure the damaged occurred at that time of installation, logic points to it. Its a question. Also someone put roof tar on the holes to try and cover up. Sounds like a roofer would do that.
This review is because Brian, who has done quite a bit of work for us in the past, will not even come out to look at the problem and discuss a solution

Hawaiian Island Property is so professional and yet the perfect amount of Hawaiian friendliness. We have lived on Kauai for 35 years. Have been so fortunate to own our home for 18 years now. My husband and I are pretty handy so over the years we have managed to handle all our small projects ourselves. Have been looking for someone like Brian and Hawaiian Island Property for a long time though.

Hawaiian Island Property is wonderful. I called Brian in the morning with an emergency. I had a plumbing leak in a wall in my rental condo in Kapaa. Brian was responsive and sympathetic to my situation. My condo management office requires a few hoops to jump through just to work on the property, insurance etc.

Aloha! We've done five project with Brian Barretto and his team at Hawaiian Island Property and have been completely satisfied with the workmanship, competitive pricing, and great communication. The project have ranged from actually moving and then lifting a house on a property to complete renovations in bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
