A-Star is the absolute worst. They installed an HVAC system that's too small for my home and then ghosted me when I inquired about it. My home's still within warranty (under 1 year old) and yet, they refuse to address this service request. For over 6 months, I've been trying to get a hold of Tim O'Keefe, Andy Crawford, and Chris (warranty manager) to ask a simple question: can you provide the Manual J and R-Value for my home so I can determine if the HVAC is the proper size?

I called A-Star because we were in need of a new HVAC system. The old system had been in the house since 2002 and needed to be replaced. Last winter the the old furnace started sounding like it was trying to escape the attic, and the AC unit was too small to cool the whole house. So after talking to my neighbors next door who had their whole system installed during the summer by A-Star and recommended them. I called them and Salazar came over the next day, he looked at what we had and quoted us a price that we couldn't refuse. He told me nobody was going to beat their quote and he was right

I had a leak under my home. It took a while to get someone out to find it because of all the winter storm damage, so that was to be expected. The guys who came out found the leak, explained things well, were friendly and professional, so I went ahead and scheduled the recommended repair, scheduled to begin on a Monday.
On Monday, the excavators did not show up, because Thomas, the person who I scheduled the service with, failed to schedule them. The plumber showed up, painted an X on the ground, and left. The excavators came on Tuesday and dug and left. No one updated me on anything, so I

We used Nations Home Warranty and they dispatched A-Star twice.
The first occasion was for commode issues. They replaced one commode, fixed the flange on the other, and cleaned out the tree roots from the outside sewer pipe that were causing backups.
On the second occasion, they repaired two sinks/faucets that were leaking, and did a quick fix on the pressure relief valve on the water heater.
Very prompt and courteous service and they got each job done quick.
Can't comment on their pricing since we only had to pay the warranty deductible, but we were VERY pleased with their service

The company appears to be nice and staff is friendly however the low stars is due to the sales team. We purchased an a/c unit and they did a good job. However the sales staff attemps to intimidate customers to "upsell" by claiming to void the warranty if you don't sign up for their maintenance or their duct cleaning services. Speaking as a HR professional; I hope ownership doesn't promote this behavior from staff.

Went through our home warranty (Nations) and they called quickly and serviced us within 2 hours regarding our disposal.
The plumber Luis was polite, dressed in a nice company logo embroidered polo, a professionally wrapped newish/clean van and wore new disposable gloves and a mask during this COVID 19 pandemic.
He spent 30-45 minutes and cleaned up behind himself. Highly professional and they seem to be an outstanding company. I'm glad we have Nations Home Warranty and that they work with A-Star...

I called to schedule a leak detection. I was told by an unfriendly woman that "It will be a $150 after hours charge and then the plumber will tell you the cost of repairs." I asked what the leak detection cost would be which for virtually every other company is a separate charge and then the repair is quoted. She said I would have to pay the $150 to find out the detection cost. What a crock. No wonder they only get 3 stars in their reviews.

These folks wanted $3,500 for an estimated 4 hours of labor (to install a tiny $650 room air conditioning unit I purchased separately). That's $875 per hour for labor. And I have to supply any equipment or parts needed. Later, they proposed to lower their price to $750 per hour. LOL. I must've called The Comedy Store by accident.

Stay away... stay FAR AWAY. Have been dealing with this joke of a company for about a month now. First I had a gas leak, that took a week for them to repair (of which they failed inspection) and had to come back out again. Guy they sent out originally was very uninformed and had to call his supervisor multiple times to ask very simple questions I had. Finally after the failed inspection the supervisor came out himself & got the leak fixed. I had also asked them to flush my tankless hot water heater which they couldn't do because he forgot the kit. In June, I had both AC units replaced by A-Star Heating and Air. I was told they would return to reinstall the overflow safety switch as the line was leaking. It's now almost 2 months later and they have not been back. I've called 4 times this week alone and no one will return my call. This is completely unacceptable.
I upgraded my review to 3 stars. After I posted this review, they fixed the problem today and were very nice.

On time and great at explaining the issues and giving options. We have a 10 yr old furnace that will need more work in the future I am sure, so I will not hesitate to call them again. Cesar was very helpful, was not pushy, but did offer some other suggestions for me to lower my utility bills and improve my system which I found very thoughtful. He did not mind me watching his work as I was trying to learn. Found a part and installed it to fix my system the same day!

Very pleased with the service, quick response, and action taken on our leaky A/C unit! I was referred A-Star from some other customers in the neighborhood that were just as pleased. A-Star showed up 2 1/2 hours after I called (I didn't expect anyone to be available til next day, so this was a nice surprise!)
He identified the problem and worked quickly and efficiently to fix it. Price quote was highly competitive and they offered coupons which most other places did not.
