From beginning contact/estimate to our final clean-up and pool start-up, John and Nate at Sunset Designers did everything they promised, with creativity and excellent day-to-day updates on all aspects of our home pool remodel. I choose Sunset because they were recommended by neighbors AND because I felt John was personally invested in making my backyard something we'd both be proud of.
I felt that John didn't just want to get a contract signed for one more pool- I felt he wanted to create something beautiful- and he did. He contributed his design expertise but allowed me, at all stages, to modify to my tastes. Contractors of all types are not known for personal service or good communication skills.
In my experience, John is a real exception. Every aspect of our project with Sunset equaled or exceeded our expectations. All of the workers on this project, from demolition to final landscaping, were personally overseen and supervised by John. All of them were courteous and punctual. I never had to remind them about daily clean-up before they departed.

We are giving John Zahn (JZ) and the Sunset Designers & Builders team a rating of 5 only because 6 is not available. We have had many contractors and tradespeople work on our properties over the years, and Sunset was by far the easiest to work with while providing a superior result. Our project was to update an existing 25 year old pool/Jacuzzi and backyard deck/patio area. Our first meeting with JZ resulted in excellent design recommendations with a comprehensive written bid and schedule within a few days. We had an amazing experience with Sunset Designers & Builders. JZ, Nate and the team went above and beyond. After meeting with JZ, we knew he was the right person to completely revamp our backyard. We weren't sure about the elevated pool, it was something we hadn't seen before. So JZ took us to a couple of the pools he built. After seeing the first one, we knew it was the way to go, it really makes the backyard pop. I highly recommend John, Nate and the entire crew. From the initial consultation to a very detailed bid for the project, working efficiently and cleaning up at the end of the work day. John had creative ideas for the layout and giving us the design that maximized our yard space. We loved the daily emails from Nate describing what was completed that day and what was happening tomorrow. A great team to work with from start to finish. The project was finished ahead of time and on budget even with the pandemic. John and Nate are the best!

We had both our front and back yard gutted and Sunset Designers and Builders did a incredible job of turning both dirt lots into a beautiful oasis which included hardscape, a firepit, the addition of cement columns, landscaping and remodeled jacuzzi. (See photos) All work was completed in a timely manner, working up to 6 days a week, and the quality of the design is beyond compare. We are so happy with our newly designed yard. Thanks John and Nate for a job well done!!!
