Native, drought tolerant plants is the way to go, but Curtis Horticulture is not!
Unfortunately, I had the same experience as Joseph and MK. The problems include inconsistent scheduling - visits every 3-7 weeks instead of monthly, being overpriced compared to other services in the market, and worst of all, failure to take responsibility for the plants they planted as initially agreed upon.
Rather than taking responsibility and replacing the plants, they accused me of neglect, when we in fact weed and handle seasonal planting - and tried to upsell us instead.

I've been through several different companies for landscape design and maintenance over the years. I'm much happier with Curtis than I have been with the others. They're responsive, friendly, easy to reach, flexible, and incredibly friendly and courteous when they are at my house working. I've been very happy with them. I guess mostly I match "Tim C" and his thoughts. I'm just glad I've found them.

We are thrilled with the work that Curtis Horticulture did for us, and would highly recommend Stephanie and her team for anyone doing California native or other low-water landscaping/xeriscaping. Their hardscape work is much more professional than other landscapers.
Curtis Horticulture is not the least expensive solution, but they are a good value for the money. We had a budget we were working to, and Curtis' original quote came in over that. Stephanie was very good about making suggestions to save money, and I eliminated some features we originally wanted. Unlike Congress, we worked

Unlike everyone else, I did not have a terrific experience. They only sort of did what I needed done. The drip system they installed is inadequate for the native plants they put in. There are gaps that require me to hand water several plants. Several plants died within weeks of being put in. They also have issues sticking to a schedule. The start date of the project kept getting pushed further and further back until the finally started a full month past the original start date.
They are very nice and very hard working but in the end did not do the job I thought I was paying for.

I've been really happy with Curtis Horticulture. They came in and fixed a bunch of stuff that a different native landscaper installed badly. They re-did the drip water system in our front yard, moved things around to open up our design, and are now working with us to improve our back yard as well. They've been friendly and responsive and they really know their stuff. I'm really grateful we found them.

They did an amazing job in transforming our backyard. We had a very dated grass (well to be honest, nutsedge & weed) yard with lots of dead bushes and struggling plants, along with a wasteland that had never been landscaped. We now have veggie boxes, smaller garden boxes for herbs or whatever, and some beautiful drought resistant gardens. The crew is fantastic--even my neighbors noticed how hard they worked--and they always cleaned up afterwards. They do one job at a time, so they don't start and stop like some contractors do, and the crew members seem to really care about doing a great

We encountered a Curtis Horticulture design on the "Calif Native Plant Tour" the last year. We liked the concept of no lawn maintenance but lacked the imagination to visualize what would look "good" in our yard.
Fortunately, our first meeting with Stephanie Curtis yielded a a couple of ideas that we hadn't thought of and proceeded to planning.
The plan, price and execution went flawlessly. Stephanie and her crew were prompt, quick, professional, and meticulous in execution of our plan. (I hope yelp allows before/after pic attachments)
I heartily recommend Curtis Horticulture

Ok let me start by saying that I love what they do! They are not just your run of the mill landscaping company they specialize in planting drough resistant plants that require a lot less maintenance(hence being a lot more eco-friendly) I first met their crew when my company was doing a job at their clients house. They worked efficiently and after they left they made sure they cleaned up thoroughly. But again the coolest thing about them is that they plant bay area friendly plants.
