Andy started Action Lock & Key, Inc. in June of 1980 in a small shop on Lake St in Roselle, IL. With one truck and his Dad to help him answer phones for the first year, Andy established himself in the area. Within 5 years, he was able to hire a man to work the counter while he did the outside service calls.
Action Lock & Key Inc. has one of the only full-service shops in the area. Look around and try to find a locksmith that you can bring something to. This allows you to save time and money. Our staff can cut keys, change your lock to work with new keys, fix your lock problem or show you what is needed to do so.
Most places that cut keys only carry fifty of the most common keys made. Action Lock & Key Inc. inventories over eight hundred different types of keys, and a large inventory of the most common ones. If you only need one or even a hundred keys, Action Lock and Key Inc would be able to cut them for you.
Not all Safes are alike. There are many different models: Fire Safes, Burglary Safes, Drop Safes, Media Safes and Gun Safes. They all have different ratings, regarding safety and ability to withstand a fire. Excellent customer service! I worked with Tony in the office and Joe was the technician on site. Tony was very patient & kind with my delays & finally scheduled them to re-key all of our locks. Had 3 locks re-keyed at my place of work. Third lock, Joe was able to fix it enough to use and replaced the insert part of the lock ($20), it is a door we never really use. Excellent customer service. Rare now-a-days. Did all locks without disturbing our working environment and was done quickly. Will be contacting them again, when we get new doors.

We called Action Lock & Key when we were experiencing issues with a deadbolt lock. The gentleman who answered the phone was professional and courteous. I have been coming to this place for about 26 years. Thankfully, I don't need its services more than once every few years. But whenever I do, I always think of Action Lock and Key first. My last experience is much like other visits. I have a little crisis, and one of the guys performs magic. My last visit, I had a key break off in half. Part of the key was stuck inside my motorcycle locking gas cap. The key was removed, and somehow, a new key was made from it. Service is great, the guys behind the counter are awesome, and prices are very fair.

We bought a townhome recently and found out that the sellers never gave us keys to the inside garage door. The knob was the original knob from the 70s, so it was too difficult to replace ourselves. I saw a recommendation for Action Lock & Key, so I called them up this morning. They said someone can be there between 11 and 1, and Mel called me and showed up a little before 1pm. He replaced the knob and installed a deadbolt as well. He did a great job and the door is working great. Highly recommend this place!

They're so good here. Honestly. Our condo association uses them for keys and they are helpful, kind and knowledgable. The shop is clean and the hours are okay. The location can be hard to find if you're not familiar and I am pretty sure the GPS was wrong the last time I looked.
But I've never had to have them redo a key. We've been visiting for quite a few years and I have no complaints. Bring cash though because unless you need a heck of a lot of keys, you're not going to meet their credit card minimum.

I was having trouble with my front door locks. The keys were not gliding into the key holes smoothly and I was having to force the keys. I figured I would need to have someone come look at the locks and have them repaired. I gave Action Lock & Key a call and spoke with Andy. I explained my situation and he gave me a few options. I took his information and started by giving the key holes a spray of Tri Flow. Surprisingly, my keys now glide right into the key holes. Problem solved! Andy helped me out while sacrificing the revenue he would have made on a service call. For that reason

Here's useful info. No clowning this time. Action Lock has done all the work at our house over time. I finally got around to having new pass-through handsets (door nobs) installed upstairs. Andy the owner asked me to look at how the bolts were seated. Would the doors need any chiseling out? Or were the mounts simple? Stupid me. I only looked at the two bathroom doors. The six other doors WOULD require chiseling. Vince and AJ showed up to do what should have been a 30 minute job. It took closer to two hours. They had every right to adjust the estimate upward. They didn't.
