Self Storage 1

The process of getting a storage unit at Self Storage was smooth and painless. The location is convenient for me. The space available for parking to load/unload is a little limited, but I haven't had any real issues with it yet.

The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and the process was quick and painless it was my first time and if I'm ever in need of another unit I would definitely come back here.

Overall great place with good hours. Parking can be hard during peak hours though. Very nice and helpful staff.

Great experience we pick them because the location was extremely close for our move. It was a great pick. The Ladies at the front desk were super helpful and very patient as, I asked lots of questions. The security was excellent, our unit was clean, dry, no smell and bug free! It was easy to access and there were always carts available. Would definitely use them again!

Very knowledgeable and process of viewing and securing a unit was so easy. The ease of bringing things into the back and up the elevator is a plus. Very well maintained and clean inside as well.

Loved our whole experience here! Armani (sp?) took us around to multiple units so that we could check them out and we found the perfect one for our purposes! It was a quick process and I am getting ready to bring my first load to the unit now. Looking to rent another unit shortly!

Very helpful and happy staff in the office.
The unit we rented had ample room. Good parking spot in back to unload in private. Plenty of carts. Office had Saturday hours and plenty of supplies. Happy to be a new renter here!

Kind personell! Beautiful building with some solid storage. Less than two blocks from train station which is a huge bonus when casually bringing items to and fro. Units of sizes for every budget- none the one size fits everyone.

I found and closed a fire escape door open at least 10 times in 2 weeks. Being a good citizen I took a photo and reported this to management with a photo.
Their reply was "we have brought it to their attention [of the security guard]"
When I sent a photo, later the same day, they reacted defensively, suggesting that if it was propped open it was an issue BUT if it simply was not shut it was a non-issue.
If a person can open the door what difference would an item make? I didn't receive a response.
I wonder what their insurance company would say!

The facility is clean, well maintained and at a fairly good price. Why only two stars? Customer service. On two occasions I need to speak with an actual person. I called during business hours (which I understand are restricted due to COVID). I was forwarded to what I presume is a call center. The call center representative was extremely polite and told me that my call would be sent to the location, as she did not have access to the information I was requesting. I am incredibly happy that I chose Self Storage 1 for my storage needs. I am moving out of my current apartment and needed a place to store all of my furniture and other belongings for the next few months. They were able to provide me with a great unit for a fantastic rate. The staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful and pleasant to work with, and the leasing process was quick and painless. The building is climate controlled, incredibly secure, and easily accessible. Very friendly staff! I got a unit for what I thought would be a month but ended up needing to extend, it wasn't a problem at all. Access to the unit and facility was great, being able to back into the garage and use the carts was a huge bonus! Highly recommend!

Excellent price and customer service for in-city storage.  I've used them on and off for the last 10 years, and it's always been a great experience. There are no weird long term leases,  the insurance on the unit is well explained up front so no hidden fees, and it is conveniently located if you live in Wrigleyville/Lakeview/Buena Park.

After shopping many storage unit options, this was not only the most affordable but also the most conveniently located place in relation to my home. The staff is very professional, personable and helpful. I am so grateful to have found them and to be storing my things here. I honestly wouldn't want them anywhere else. Thank you so much!

I just got back from signing up/moving in here, and Colin was a dream- incredibly helpful, also patient & thoughtful with my questions (as it turns out, it isn't illegal to turn someone's storage unit into a ball pit but it IS sort of frowned upon- you didn't hear this from me). Lots of great conversations in general, as you might imagine. Otherwise, a wonderfully straightforward process, excellent pricing, easy location- I'm a happy customer. Glad I did my research and landed here. :)

Colin assisted me during the whole process and was SO helpful! It's hard to move, and they made it as easy as possible. I originally was going to get a bigger unit but he recommended the smaller one after hearing what I'd be storing- it is the perfect size! I appreciated the honesty and not trying to up-sell me on a bigger unit if I didn't need it.

Shopped around and this was by far the best price around. Unit is spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly. The elevator and loading dock made moving a breeze. They sell moving supplies. Overall very satisfied. Didn't use their truck so I can't speak to that.

I shopped around a bunch before choosing Self Storage 1 and decided on them because they were low cost and conveniently located in Wrigleyville. I had a couple different interactions with the staff and everyone is super friendly and happy to help. Colin (I think he's a manager?) did a great job of directing traffic in the loading area so that everyone there could load/unload and leave quickly. I came with movers to move into my unit and because they have a back alley and an elevator that opens right into the loading area, we were able to finish moving into my 4x10 unit in 20 minutes.

Colin Barrett & Greg Barrett went out of their way to make sure I had a hassle free move of my items into this storage facility. The building is well managed, secure, clean, & am very impressed with my overall experience!!

MOVING IS BEYOND STRESSFUL; especially when your doing it alone. I booked a few storage units to compare prices, and this storage grabbed my interest because it advertises the free truck rental. The day I moved in I wanted the truck BUT it was reserved by someone else..bummer.
Anywho the staff was helpful efficient and made my day a little less stressful. I got the rate I was quoted online and everything turned out fine. I suggest this facility over most in the uptown lakeview area.

The staff are very friendly , the units are very clean. Sandy was one of the first persons I came across when I went to Self storage 1 she was very friendly,and helpful . I was shown a few units, they were very clean. The front office is very nice looking and the bathroom was CLEAN, oh and the coffee is excellent.
