Nelson Brothers was founded by two brothers, Anton and Nels. Nelson, Danish immigrants. Settling originally in Iowa, both brothers installed irrigation lines for the farming industry. The promise of higher pay working in the factories soon lured them to Detroit, Mi. Unhappy with factory life, both brothers began working in the evenings and on weekends installing sewer lines as freelance contractors.
Then in 1925 they left the factory forever to pursue their dream of self-employment and Nelson Bros. was born. In the 1950's Nelson Bros. ownership changed to Elmer and Edwin Nelson, the son's of Anton Nelson. The business expanded from its primary focus of sewer installations to include sewer maintenance.
Then in the early 1960's the business further expanded its focus to include plumbing repairs and installations where the bulk of our business is concentrated today. In 1958 Nelson Bros. built their headquarters in Royal Oak where it remains today. Nelson Bros. continues to be family owned and operated.

My mom's basement had water leakage from recent rainstorms. We were told she needed her basement waterproofed and gutter guards during two separate appointments. I decided to contact Nelson Brothers yesterday. Ed came out today. He checked the sewer and water lines. They were clogged causing water to seep into the basement. He very efficiently and professionally cleaned them. No more water in the basement! We are so grateful we thought of Nelson Brothers. Thank you so much, Ed!!!

Justin Leppan demonstrates quality work under difficult circumstances. The cap to the sewer line was stuck together. IT Took a Major effort to get it off. He worked diligently to fix the problem. He was timely, thorough, and great problem solving skills, excellent attitude and pleasant demeanor. We would certainly recommend him to anyone in need of his services. I’ve been using Nelson Plumbing for many years now, and I’ve always gotten excellent service! I have referred them to family and friends and they agree on the quality of service provided as well. In this situation, they fixed up a basement bathroom that had corroded pipes in the sink and a toilet from 1960 that was leaking. The company is very professional, customer-centric, and responsive. Their technicians are all top notch - very experienced and they deliver quality work; this definitely includes the gentleman who did the work today. I consider them a trusted service provider!
