Bruce Fence has been in business for over 40 years providing quality workmanship and value to residential and commercial clients alike. Based in Troy, NY, Mark and Mary Bruce started out small in 1970 as a sub-contractor for chain link fence sold by Montgomery Ward. Soon after we added Sears and overflow work from 2 other fence companies in the area.
Our business steadily grew with more and more requests to purchase directly from us and in 1973 we moved our business from Troy to a 400 sq. Today our outdoor display area, indoor showroom, offices, metal, wood and PVC fabricating buildings occupy more than 14,400 sq. We not only work in, we reside in and are raising our families in the Capital District.
All shop and field crews are personally supervised by our son Mark. Several have been with us starting right out of high school and we have watched them mature into talented trades people as well as responsible members of the community. When you phone our office, the voice on the other end is one of our sales or office associates, not an auto-attendant.

We had Bruce Fence install a fence on the south side of our yard this month. The work crew headed by Howard was very professional, courteous and very customer-oriented. They were prompt and worked diligently until the job was completed. Jeff who came to do the estimate was also very helpful and professional as was Mellissa in the office I spoke with several times. We are so satisfied with the quality of their work and craftsmanship they are coming back to give us an estimate for a new fence on the north side of our yard. We have requested a call back a year now with no communication ! They installed two sections left a mess and never returned !!!!! Extremely rude saying they were busy or short staffed ! Really it’s been a year and even before the Virus ignoring us misquoted us the list goes on. All we want is our agreement finished as promised please if we are not contacted within the next few weeks we will Persue

I was given the name Bruce Fence by the company Teakwood. What a mistake. They never finished the fence though they promised to return. The owner did not return my calls and there are literally so many issues with the fence they are too numerous to list here. In a world where businesses run on reviews I am hoping that mine will save someone from making the same mistake and go somewhere else.

From start to finish, Bruce Fence Company was everything that a contractor should be. Melissa in the office took the time to work through different options for building a fence at a home we recently purchased, and offered creative solutions to work within our budget.
When Jeff came to the house to assess the land and provide an estimate, he was on-time, friendly, professional, and answered all of my questions. He emailed the quote promptly, then called me to go through the contract line by line to make sure I understood everything.

If time and honesty is of the essence; move along. “you’ll hear from us later today” and when you ask will I hear via email or phone call,. Gentleman offered a slight laugh and a “it will be either thru email.....Or a phone call.” If that exchange exudes professionalism by all means proceed. Took almost a week for the “boss” to figure out equipment wouldn’t fit between houses.

Excellent experience. Communication was outstanding. The individuals who installed the fence were courteous and listened to what my needs were. Continuously asked if there was anything else they needed to do and if I was happy. Melissa in sales was knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend them.
