I was on the fence about how to rate this business because one employee is absolutely amazing! However the other is so rude I thought about never coming back. 4 times I’ve been in there and been treated as if I know nothing and I was wasting his time. I am a mechanic and run a shop so I send customers at least twice a week but I warn them that the customer service is horrible depending on who is working. The reason I decided on 5 stars is actually due to the quality. Both the representatives are extremely knowledgeable! The prices are also very very low in comparison to an other lock and key

Every time I give this place a chance , they don’t fail to disappoint. The staff is not knowledgeable, they don’t guarantee their work and failed performance, I don’t see a reason to waste time or money here . I compare this place to a old place that can copy your house key, don’t try to copy your car key or have it programmed, they will fail . They say they have the equipment, hut believe me… don’t know how to use it , that’s why they tell you , we don’t guarantee ( they have no clue ) . My advice, go 3 miles to a professional place that knows and better prices : A and B locksmith

Lacks customer service. Randy is awesome! He deserves the star. As far as the old man he obviously hates his life & projects it through not being able to communicate. Rude!!!! His daughter owns Fudgey's Ice Cream shop on Dix in Southgate. Hope she didn't get his hate for human race.

The owner helped me out and was very kind and friendly! Would recommend.

I work at Wyandotte Animal Hospital. We needed a door knob fixed or replaced. Between the time I called them and he came out to fix it, was about 45 minutes. The gentleman was extremely professional and courteous. He knew his stuff. Fixed us up right away. I used this company before for my home and now for the business. This company will always be my go to company.

Other place didn't have a common car key. American had it. Copied my broken key quickly and walked me through how to program it. Job well done and solved the problem. Would definitely recommend.

Nice old man.... Knows his stuff about locks... Only took 10 minutes to program two new keys for my truck.... and was $20 cheaper then the other 2 places I called

Lazy service. They know what they doing but I’ve been trying to get this guy to come out on spot and fix the lock for three days... all I get every time is “oh I can’t do it today, can you call me tomorrow?”..... LAZY SERVICE

Helpful staff, hours appear a little off on yelp. Yelp stayed they were open till 7pm on Wednesday but I stopped by at 615ish and they were closed. I had 4 key copies made and was out in under 5 minutes for around $6. Would recommend.

Called them to fix a deadbolt gone wrong. At first I called a random number and got an individual who I felt was a con artist. Showed up in a rusty van and tried to get me to pay hundreds of dollars just to rekey my doors. Luckily I sent them on their way with nothing. So I had some friends try to change deadbolt and we messed it up. I saw an ad for American lock & key in the local magazine. They Were upfront on the phone of what the charges would be. The gentlemen pulled up in a legitimate van and got right to work. Prices where so reasonable. Even less than I thought they would be

There was a time when i would have recommended this place, but they've gotten so rude i won't go there anymore. Wife and daughter were treated very bad on seperate occasions, not good business

I put off taking in a small safe for 6 mo after loosing the keys in my move. It took the nicest man 5 min and $10.00 to hook me up!!!! I never get honest fast and friendly service anymore???? I will recommend you from now on!!!!!!

I needed to change the locks at my mom's house and was well taken care of by American Lock and Key. In about an hour, I had keys made, cutting down the amount of keys from 5 to 2 for easy access. Great job.

Dave was excellent in terms of workmanship , attitude and start-to-end of the service call. For a holiday weekend like Memorial Day, it made my day 100% better.

I won't bore you with what lead up to me replacing all 15+ door handles in my house, but it ended with me wanting to get the same key I already had for the front of my house to go into the newer garage door lock.

I went in and showed them my door lock & asked how they could help me out. The guy seemed dumb founded & instead of offering to come and fix it he told me what he'd do it he were me. I'm not a lock guy, you guys are the experts & that's why I was there.

These guys sure know what they're doing. Brought my Dodge Caliber for programming it's new key that I got on line, and they did it in less than 5 min!
