Abril Roofing

This review is about the company, not the roof. We had them install foam roof a couple years ago, work was completed in a timely manner- communication does lack once you start giving them money but we didn't have any issues at the time so it wasn't a big deal.

Fast forward 2 years, we decide to put in mini splits and run lines across and through the roof. Call Rick to get pricing on how much to seal each roof penetration so we could budget out the project. The initial conversation, he said they didn't have a price they charge per penetrations, the main cost was just getting them

We've had two roofs done by Abril. Rick Abril and David K. were in charge. Things were better when company was run by Mr. Abril, Sr, who has since retired. This was going to be a rave review but it's taken over 7 months, over three seasons, with repeated calls, to come out to look at a workmanship issue cause they're so "busy". And now, deny responsibility or warranty on a newer roof. Customer satisfaction does not seem to be their priority anymore. Started by looking for contractors that replace Eichler siding... I had used
Abril in the past and had friends that were happy with the foam roofing
but I wasn't aware they also did siding repair and replacement. Rich came by several days after my request and examined the dry rot needing repair.

We used Abril roofing to replace the tar and gravel roof on our mid century modern home with foam. I recently hired Abril roofing for a re-coat on my foam roof. Rick Abril came by, took a look at it and told me that it would last another 1~2 years before it really needed a re-coat, but I decided to get it done now as it would mostly likely cost more in a couple of years.

We did roofing heating and floors all at once. Of the many contractors we interviewed Abril was the only one whose estimate didn't change - over three months between when we first contacted them and when we were finally ready. They are not inexpensive but they charged a fair price, did the work as scheduled, communicated well and delivered a great product. I hope I won't be needing a roof any time soon, but we've joined many in our community (Lucas Valley) who've chosen Abril for their roof.

Don't even waste your time with this company. They will not sure up like they agreed to and leave your house a mess.

During the August 2020 epic lightning storm, the fierce winds peeled off approximately 30% of the twenty year old tar-paper roof of my 1957 Walnut Creek mid-century home right off the plywood (pictures below). I decided then that it was time to bite the bullet and invest in a full foam roof for the entire 2,400 sq/ft house, rather than just patch the damage. As someone who is normally very cautious of being taken advantage of by contractors, I decided to do a LOT more due diligence and expert shopping if I was going to drop $20,000+ for a roof that I wasn't expecting to replace a week earlier

Had two skylights installed by the Abril crew for a reasonable cost. We chose Abril because we have a foam roof and wanted whoever did the install to make sure the roofing repairs were water tight. The skylights came out beautifully. They showed up on time, worked all day and left the work area clean and tidy. I inspected the roof and all the roof repairs necessary for a leak proof skylight appear to have been made. So far we are loving the new lights. Long overdue review, I called Abril to ask for an inspection and possible replacement of downspouts.

Rick Abril came over and said the downspouts looked in fine shape and suggested that if I did want to replace any to use a handyman, way cheaper that a roofing company. Good to know. Then......
Rick actually took off the worst offending downspout (noisy) and cleared it out and replaced it.
Of course I offered to pay him and he declined. Above and beyond good customer service. And... he was in nice clean "salesman" clothes :/

Do not ignore the bad reviews here they ALL echo our own experience. Roof currently leaking for 4th time since roof finished under 2 yrs ago (which was a disaster in it's own right), now have water running down the wall and the staining wood indoors. Claim to be flat roof specialists but ARE NOT. DO NOT USE THEM.

It is really hard for me to write this review, since I need these guys to stay in business, to validate the roof warranty. I have an Eichler home in Marin County, and went with Abril because they seem to be one of the few that do many foam roofs on Eichlers. That being said, they gave me an impressive stack of "references" but once I started calling the numbers, many of them were outdated or the customers actually had TERRIBLE things to say. After acquiring multiple quotes, I am so happy that I went with Abril Roofing. They were professional, communicated with me throughout the process, and did an excellent job on my roof as well as the installation of a new skylight. I highly recommend this family-owned business.

Abril roofing not only did a great job, the foam roof keeps our home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Four years later I noticed a few bubbles. They came back and fixed them right away. Awesome customer service as well as great roofers.

Just as other reviewers stated, Abril Roofing takes pride in Pooooor... Customer Service. Rick and his team DO NOT stand behind their warranties. They are rude and wants to charge me for work that should have been under warranty. I reported air bubles and uneven drainage 7 months(after first rain) after recoating the roof only to be told it's not covered under the warranty. It took several complaints before they come out to fix the many air bubbles that have developed. However, the guys refused to address the drainage issue and no one responded to the message I left at the office

Worst customer service- rude, and arrogant.
I had Abril roofing fix few roof leaks. 2 days later, I noticed a leak in one of the spots that were supposed be fixed. I called Abril roofing only to experience, worst service from the lady who answered the phone.
She outright denied it was from the work done 2 days ago, and asked me to pay another 475$ for the visit. This is the response from someone who was not onsite. Go figure.
However, she was very polite and friendly when I called the first time to schedule fixes. When I called to report a problem with the job, she attitude was rude and denial

I am a realtor, and was in a panic to have a very last minute inspection on a home my clients were set to close on. Rick got out there the very next day and wrote up a report for us. We then had another emergency with the lender requesting repairs, and again, Abril came out quickly to do the job. They are foam roof experts, and they did an amazing job. Brand new roof installed on a house while I was in escrow, I'm 1.5 months in and it's leaking in 3 different places, last night I was told that someone would be here by 11, it's now after 1 PM and NOBODY IS PICKING UP THE PHONE. Both customer service and build quality seem to be incredibly poor, I'm very disappointed that I'm sitting here with a brand new leaking roof with basically NO RESPONSE.

Richard and David Abril go above and beyond to satisfy their customers. I've used Abril roofing many times in the past but this time my roof was exposed and needed repair urgently. David worked closely to fit me into the schedule before the raining season. The are honest, fairly priced and have a good crew. Highly recommend Abril Roofing.
