We are locally based in Silver Spring and family owned, operated and supervised. The two principles, Neal Cogswell and Jon Winter, graduated from the University of Maryland with Bachelor of Science degrees in Landscape Design. By choosing Solar Gardens you will be the recipient of our cumulative fifty years of landscaping experience.

Once the design phase is complete, our team of experts can then begin the installation phase. Our project managers will be involved, with you, through every step of the installation to ensure the end result that you envisioned.
Our landscape department designs and installs beautifully arranged landscapes and gardens. Our experienced staff creates and implements a full range of projects which include: Plantings, Hardscapes, Drainage Solutions, Exterior Lighting, Grading, Lawn Installation and Renovation, Irrigation System Installation, & Water Features.
Our goal is to create long lasting hardscapes that both enhance the aesthetic and functionality of your outdoor space. Patios, walkways and retaining walls may be constructed of various materials, in an infinite number of shapes and sizes. Driveways are often created using pavers due to their durability and large selection of styles and colors.
From practical applications such as fencing to ornate structures such as a gazebo, pergola or trellis, our carpenters create stunning works from wood and composite materials. We build decks of all shapes and sizes and use a large assortment of materials. We can convert a window to a beautiful set of French doors for access to your new deck, and we can enclose the underside of your deck to create a dry patio or storage area.
