I contracted Dunmar to move me from Virginia to Florida. It was a relatively small move but still had heavy boxes and several large pieces of furniture. They loaded up the items in a smaller truck because the bigger van would not fit in the apartment complex. The driver showed up by himself, which surprised me, but was still quite efficient and got things done in a few hours. The delivery in Florida was perfect! The driver showed up early and had a crew of 3 to offload and setup. They got things done in about 2 hours! There was a slight bit of damage to a table but nothing to worry about. I have

Contracted to have Dunmar pack and move the contents of my house. Dunmar's packing crew are subcontracted. I was told a crew would be there on specified day and time. The crew consisted of 1 person. Took 7 hours to pack the house. When I called to complain that there was no "crew" that's when I found out that packers are subcontracted and it is up to the crew lead to get his crew together. I would like to convey my wife's and my unpleasant experience with Allied Van Lines - Dunmar Moving Systems. We were moving from Richmond, Virginia to New Hampshire. We were given a pick up date of Wednesday 1/6/21 and the pick up went flawlessly with the long distance driver and three helpers. On the moving day we were told that delivery would be in Sunday 1/10/21. The driver arrived just after 8am and began preliminary work for the day. Movers did not take care of belongings. Damaged a dresser, floor lamp, and lost the remote controls to our electric bed frame. Crew took long breaks and spent alot of time on their phones. When 5PM came they could not wait to get out of Dodge. I had to hire an other crew to put my furniture together since they refused to finish the job. Got a quote to repair the dresser for $275, The repair company they chose was way over $500 out of my pocket. I do not trust anything from this company,

I had an appointment for them to come and move a sofa bed from upstairs to downstairs. They simply did not show up nor did they notify me they had canceled until I called them. Made another appointment and this time it was confirmed between 1 and 5. They finally showed up around 5:30, again no call or anything. The two guys had been working all day in the heat so they were ripe with BO. Only one of them wore a mask as I had requested. They forgot to bring the cushions down or put moved furniture back. Al in all, a terrible experience. Find another company for your own sake.

Workers don’t care about your cabinets, or family. They showed up 27 minutes late (5:27). I had several buddies at the house to help hang cabinets. WE carried them inside the house and one of the delivery guys was just throwing them around the truck like they were trash. Then as WE were carrying them inside my fiancé and her mom were unboxing them… while WE were unloading the truck. The guy that does the paper work for them yelled in the back of the truck (which was the son of the two) “Just let me do my F*ing job!” Towards his FARHER! Then he walks in the house

Destroyed a $12,000 Stickley solid mahogany dining room table in April 2019 in Short Pump, Va. Their insurer covered less than half of the damage after deductible and we have a worthless table. Moving crew ran out of the room and did not tell us about the damage. You can see their spit marks in pics where they tried to rub out the deep gouges… and long 2 foot scratch. Pre-move we stressed the value of this handmade mahogany dining table. Bought this back in 1992 when we were married and it was in mint condition. Dunmar trashed it in less than one day after our 27 years of ownership.

My husband and I hired Dunmar to move us from Roanoke, Va to Georgia. I would give our experience the highest rating. Emily Mayhew was our moving coordinator and everything happened the way she said it would; there were no surprises. Our packers and movers, Corey, Mike, Steve and Frank were so professional and did an excellent job, even with our… crystal and china. Dunmar went out of their way to condense our packing and loading schedule to beat a pending snowstorm so that we could keep our move on schedule. I highly recommend Roanoke Dunmar for your moving needs.

Do not ever consider this company for a move. The group that came out was ok. The problem came on the back end with damage to items. I realize that things can get damaged in a move. How a company responds is the mark of good customer service. Dunmar damaged a $1000 leaner mirror, the supports of a $3500 sleigh bed that supports a tempurpedic… mattress, and two minor items. They "settled" at $500 which resulted in a net of $250 (we had a $250 deductible). If anyone has attempted to pick up a tempurpedic mattress, you know how heavy it is. We are left with hiring someone to move the mattress

Sorry but our experience was absolutely horrible and would never recommend this company to anyone. (Had to use them as it was booked/ paid for by my employer.) Felt my coordinator was a poor communicator from the start and when I said we could move literally any time, she should have been more clear that it could take 2-4 weeks for our belongings to arrive! The packers were probably the biggest problem- with a complete disregard/ disrespect to our belongings so it was no surprise that almost every large piece of furniture was damaged/ cracked/ scratched, my china shattered, mirrors broken etc.

Allied is as much or more to blame for this as Dunmar. And unforseen events do happen. But bottom line, they sold me something they did not provide and my belongings suffered as a result.I agreed to go with Allied/Dunmar only because they promised me my stuff would be picked up and loaded onto the same truck that would make the trip and delivery to my new address. I wanted that because most loss/damage occurs during the intermediated transfers to storage and other trucks. Sure enough, they loaded my stuff onto an smaller truck and into storage multiple times. And in so doing mishandled so severely

CAUTION!! There were many, many bumps in the process as the house was loaded but I hoped it would all smooth out. Every box we open is more upsetting. Clothes on hangers were waded up in the bottoms of boxes and used as packing, then shoes piled on top. Items that should have been wrapped in paper were thrown into boxes and are now damaged. Without my knowledge boxes must have been reused from another job as writing on boxes is different on other sides of the box. Box marked master bedroom is opened to find garage tools. We had a wonderful experience with Dunmar / Allied moving company. Donna came to our home to inventory the items that would be moved, and was the friendliest and most reasonable person ever. From start to finish Donna worked with us on all of our inventory changes, date changes, and even a location change. She was the best. Everyone should have a Donna to work with! We had a great experience with Dunmar starting with Jackie Creel and throughout the process. The team of 4 were friendly, polite and efficient. They were careful with our household items and the process went very well. They appreciated the food and drink we provided and were enjoyable to work with. Incompetent. Miscalculated space needed and had to wait hours for a second truck. First truck delivered in time, but the second truck was two weeks late. The worst part was nobody would return my calls to provide an ETA. They knew how badly they messed up and were too cowardly to return calls. When the second truck arrived the driver said he lost money on the trip because Dunmar was unwilling to take any financial loss to remedy their mistakes.

My wife and I contracted with Dunmar to pack, put and keep our items in storage, move us to and from a rental home and deliver our belongings into our new home. We spent about $14,000 and feel Dunmar was very unprofessional.
Following are some of our concerns:
1. The sales representative did not honor an important commitment of being at our home on the morning of packing and loading; we never saw the sales person once the contract ink dried.
2. The packers placed several expensive items such as original antique Tiffany lamp bases together with kitchen and other household items.

I would not recommend Dunmar Moving Systems. I was charged a $79 "convenience fee" because I used a credit card to pay the balance on moving day. I didn't realize I'd agreed to this in the fine print of the contract - so, beware! The head moving person had never heard of this before & neither had Allied's main office in Ohio - but because I had signed, it was my cost even though I could've easily paid ahead of time. It very expensive to move anyway, & this little surprise made me feel very taken advantage of & abused.

We hired Dunmar Moving Systems (Franchise of Allied Moving Vans). We requested a move from home to a storage from VA to CA. It included packing the complete house up, but we would do the unpacking on our own. I would give Dunmar a 2 out of 5 on packing ... 2 is being generous. The packing that was done by the person was really NOT a professional job. Here are some of the issues
- Boxes were NOT Packed, things were just DUMPED in boxes
- Things were NOT labeled (very generic at best - e.g. Kitchen i.e. it)
- Boxes were not packed with any similar items, they were just dumped.
- Spices were packed
