At Cleator Landscape Design they do one thing and they do it very well. They are not a maintenance company that puts "Design" on the side of their truck to make some extra income, nor are they a build firm that lacks creativity or inflates the design to increase profit. I hired Jeff Cleator to help design a complete remodel of my front and back yard. Now that the project is done, I am so glad I decided to hire him. He provided extremely valuable guidance from start to finish of the project. He helped with paint colors, plant selection, hardscapes, pathway designs, patio covers and lighting. We are so happy with Jeff as the designer of the outside of our home. He took into consideration the style, size and colors of our home as well as our desires. He not only designed a low maintenance, fantastic looking yard, he recommended some inexpensive improvements that accent the front of our home including wood railings and awnings. Jeff proved to have the knowledge and skills needed to create a beautiful yard and a new face to our home. Jeff was easy to work with and educated on local plants, trees and flowers as well as being easy on the budget. He’s the best!!!

My wife and I had been contemplating improving our back yard for a while. We have a decent amount of space but really weren't utilizing it very well and the plants we had purchased never seemed to fair very well. We finally decided that our back yard is really where we want to spend more of our time so I researched online to find a landscape designer.
I'm so grateful that I found Jeff Cleator. He was so knowledgable, laid out some different ideas and worked with us. I can not tell you how much I love our backyard now and how much more time we spend outside. He was able to help us change some things

Working with Jeff was great. He was recommended by a neighbor who had his yard redone last summer. Jeff really took time to listen to our ideas, provided lot of great suggestions, always told us the pros and cons of different improvements we wanted. He also made some recommendations for contractors. The whole project turned out great and we spend so much more time in our back yard now. I put off doing improvements for years but wish I had reached out sooner.

Thankfully, I found Cleator Landscape design and am now embarrassed that I didn't get this project done years ago. Jeff was fantastic to work with and was extremely attentive to our landscaping needs. He transformed our backyard into a beautiful space that is easy to maintain. We could not be happier with the results and find ourselves using the outdoor space at our home substantially more.

Cleator Landscape Design re-did my Mission Hills canyon lot that was eroding due to ice plants that were planted a while back. He replaced it thoroughly, starting with the removal of all my dead plants, enriched the soil, added low water irrigation, and replaced my old plants and dead oleanders with native plants and trees. It is beautiful! Jeff Cleator was there through the whole process of supervising and designing. I recommend him highly. His prices are fair and reasonable. His work is stellar and he I worked with me as the owner always staying in touch.

Jeff and Cleator Landscape Design were amazing. Jeff went out of his way to make sure that we got what we wanted. Although we only spend a few months a year at our house in Point Loma, Jeff was able to create a design using plants that did not require a lot of maintenance. Upon his recommendation, we also decided to install a lighting scheme to our yard that really has allowed us to really use and enjoy our outdoor space.
Now whenever we return, we are always amazed at how great our lawn looks. I would recommend Jeff and Cleator Landscape Design to anyone looking to improve their outdoor space

Jeff Cleator assistance in my landscape project was invaluable. His design and plant knowledge was incredible. Selecting the right water wise material as well as designing placement with symmetry. He recommended a great landscape contractor to do the work. Together Jeff and this company executed the project in a timely manor .The contractor was neat and cleaned up daily , this was appreciated I am extremely satisfied with Jeff's performance. After writing my initial review, Jeff contacted us to respond to our concerns. As usual, Jeff was reasoned, and his responses made sense. Subsequently, Jeff contacted our landscape contractor to discuss followup actions for replacing plants which didn't do as well as originally planned (e.g., we had originally installed Corsican Mint, but it was floundering, so needed to be replaced with something that would do better in the location).
We're appreciative of Jeff taking the time to respond to our concerns, and then reach out to the landscape contractor to assist in selecting replacements

Jeff at Cleator Landscapte drew up a conceptual sketch for our DYI small front yard project. He answered all our questions about low maintenance drought tolerant plants and made good creative design recommendations for us to get started. We also felt the cost for the sketch/consultation was very reasonable. Jeff even called us the next day to see if we had any questions and told us to contact that him at anytime if questions come up.

Jeff Cleator's designs are second to none. He is helpful, kind, responsive, insightful and above all, reliable. His prices are the most competitive you will find, particularly in light of the expertise and quality of product he delivers. He answers every question you have from start to finish and never gets exacerbated or tired of your questions. Jeff Cleator, owner of Cleator Landscape Design, provided us with a beautiful design for our cumbersome little property. We have an odd shaped front yard, sit on a hill and have very little sun throughout the day. Jeff fulfilled all our wishes and needs while considering the limitations of our space. I love what Cleator Landscape Design was able to do with my yard! I have a very challenging space because of size and some existing trees, and on top of that I wanted to have a sustainable landscape to reduce my water usage and maintenance. They were able to design the yard to maximize the space I have, I have to do very little to keep it up, my water bill has gone down drastically, and it looks amazing! They were very reasonably priced and professional. I met with several other landscapers, and Cleator seemed the most knowledgeable about local plants and the most creative.
