What is the difference between granite and marble? The biggest difference between granite and marble is their porosity. The porous nature of marble will result in absorption of some materials upon contact. Ken de Alba did a great job installing tiles in my kitchen and bath. The problem started when about 20 tiles in the shower cracked about 3 months after they were installed. I called Ken that year and then again about a year ago requesting that he fix them. He said he would and then put me off for a whole year saying that he would fit me in once he finished the big job he was on. I must have called him 6 times and he kept telling me it would be a few more weeks. OK, so 12 months of putting me off later, I found someone else and I have a guy here today that is doing the repair. We found out
