After unexpectedly having to move for a second time this year (a task which I absolutely dread) and having a horrifying experience with independent movers prior, I did my research this time. I called multiple movers in the Pgh area and received many quotes, but I decided to go with the company that had the highest/best ratings online. And boy am I glad I did! We hired Make Moves to help us with our recent move across town. Communication was great. We called a couple times before our move to confirm and ask questions and they were always patient and helpful. The day of our move Alex called ahead with an ETA, he and his team arrived on time and got right to work. They functioned like a well oiled machine. Made our whole process less stressful. A great moving experience! They arrived on time and were effective in their communications with me all day (there were multiple stops). They sent four movers, all of whom were extremely friendly and efficient. The one who handled the relaying of information/payment was very professional and did a good job explaining everything to me. The total cost ended up being lower than my estimate. Highly recommend Make Moves!

I have used them twice, and both times, had a great experience. They follow Covid precautions (everyone in a mask), they were very accommodating to our needs, professional, and friendly.
Once they got the furniture into the house, they took the time to place protective felt on the feet of our furniture. I am greatly appreciative of the excellent experience!

DO NOTTTT HIRE THIS "MOVING COMPANY"!!! 2 lil kids showed up @ my house & a guy with a nasty mouth..he is shoving papers in my face as these lil brats are breaking my stuff ONLY 15 MIN AFTER BEING THERE!!!! Now I have a broken laptop & broken dishes & they flew out of there!!! This was bar none the worst moving experience my wife and I have ever had. We hired Make Moves to do a local move (10 minutes between houses) after we bought our new house in early July 2020. They were unprofessional, careless with many of our things (primarily the one seemingly newer guy who was with them), short staffed by two people, and of the 4 guys they did send, two of them absolutely hated each other, complained about working for the company, and turned everything into a complete ordeal.

Last week was my second time using the company to move. Both times the experience has been wonderful. Prices are extremely reasonable, and frankly you get more than you pay for. Jake called me within 5 minutes of requesting a quote. Even with Thanksgiving being the week I called, he was able to find me availability for the following Wednesday (within one day of my requested date for their services during what I’m sure is a busy time for them). He was super easy to get into contact with when I had a few questions.

We had to move a couple pieces of furniture from Cranberry Twp to Ellwood City. Make Moves, llc was perfect. Bobby reached out in a timely manner and conversed with me via email quickly while going above and beyond with the information and confirmations that I requested. When I called, Bobby was courteous and pleasant and made me feel comfortable with the move even though I was across the country. Insurance information was active and given without hesitation.

My move was easy to schedule, the estimate was able to be done via email, and they were on time the day of the move. The three guys were pleasant, professional, and worked quickly. The total cost ended up being the low end of my estimate, which was the lowest estimate I received.
The less good:
There was about a quarter size chunk taken out of the ceiling above the stairs that wasn't mentioned. However this is easily forgivable because I'm assuming it happened while moving a very heavy and awkward item upstairs. I much later discovered that item had had a piece broken off as

Couldn't have asked for a more seamless, professional move than the service I received from Make Moves. From day one working with them was a breeze. SO responsive by email. I had a great experience all around with Make Moves! First, I struggled to find a company who was willing to take on a smaller job, since I only needed to move 2 pieces of furniture and a mattress. Bobby, who gave me my estimate, was more than happy to help me and said that it would be no problem. The estimate was spot on, and their minimum was right around our budget for the move. I used Make Moves to move from Robinson to Dormont. Before moving, the office staff was very helpful in helping me get an accurate quote for how much stuff I had and answering all my questions. On the day of, the movers we're on time and courteous and moved quickly. My couch wouldn't fit up the stairs but they tried as best they could. I would definitely book them again in the future.

We had flooding in our basement family room. There was no way we could move the furniture out by ourselves, so we started calling movers and the quotes we received were "outrageous".
We then called Make Moves. Not only was their quote reasonable (more than 1/2 of what the other quotes were), but they were able to come out the next day.
The crew was on time and very professional. They wasted no time in getting the furniture out of the basement and with no problems.
We will definitely call Make Moves when we move the furniture back into the family room.

Make Moves was very helpful throughout the process. They helped me do an inventory of the apartment to determine how long it would take, and then adjusted the inventory when I realized that I had forgotten items.
On the day of the move, two men arrived and were very careful about what to load into the truck and what to leave behind. (I was dividing up my belongings between three locations, which made moving much more difficult.) At the storage units, they were very helpful in making everything fit into the storage unit I had booked, even though it was a very tight fit.

They were able to accommodate a short notice move, which was appreciated. It was a short distance, no stairs move with several large pieces of furniture, some boxes and a kitchen that needed packed. They even got me a Certificate of insurance that I requested.

My mother recently had an emotional move after my father's unexpected death. She was moving from the house they built together to a smaller place. Needless to say, it was an incredibly stressful time even without the packing and moving. That being said, our movers were kind, careful, and patient. I was concerned about using one of the "big box" movers- I didn't want movers who were treating my mother like just another job. I had a bit of a complicated move last month-- we had packed our house across the country into three Pods, and needed them unloaded at a (much smaller) town home in Pennsylvania, with the added complication of not being able to park more than one Pod on the street at a time. Luckily, I found Make Moves on Thumbtack, and they did a fantastic job for me at a really reasonable price.
