Selecting the right team is as important as selecting the right materials for your home. We pride ourselves on finding the best people to work with us, and we want to help them reach their potential with a growth path within the company. Consequently, most of our staff have been with us for years. They have dedicated their lives to home building and woodworking, and bring a passion for design and construction to their work.
In addition to a great work ethic, they enjoy people, and people enjoy them. Steve started Sisler Builders in 1983, after graduating from Union College with a degree in industrial economics. He got involved in construction during his teenage years, while working with his mother, who directed renovations of historic buildings in Ithaca, New York.
Throughout his long career, Steve has always enjoyed being on the jobsite, engaged in every project. A natural innovator, he eagerly helps his clients see possibilities that might have been overlooked in the design process. Steve is a skilled team leader.

We have over 35 years of experience building custom homes in North Central Vermont. Over time we have developed a relationship-based approach to our business, supported by a construction management process that streamlines communications between the homeowner, the architect, and our project management team.
The finish details of your project-custom cabinetry, a unique coffee table, hand-crafted staircases, interior and exterior doors, special spaces, to name a few-are made to order based on your requirements. Our experienced craftsmen create fine interior woodworking and unique exterior carpentry details, and the attention to detail leaves you with a beautiful product, crafted and finished to exceed your expectations.
Our certified technicians utilize sophisticated equipment and techniques to conduct state-of-the-art audits that analyze a building's performance. Based on the information they receive, they can present solutions that reduce energy usage, lower operating costs, and improve quality of life. See Efficiency Vermont for more information.
Sisler Builders recognizes that the quality work our company produces is tied to the knowledge of our employees and the industry relationships we nurture. When I discovered mold in two bathrooms, I hired Sisler Builders to do two complete bathroom renovations. Their work is excellent, their subcontractors are incredibly talented, everyone was considerate about demolishing two bathrooms while I lived in the house, and I love the final results. I highly recommend them for any project, from a renovation to a complete build.

This is the best building firm I have ever encountered. I developed land and contracted for home construction before retiring here from the Southeast. I can state unequivocally that nothing like this level of workmanship exists there. Steve and Luke have the qualities of leadership that make the difference in attracting and keeping a highly skilled staff.

We recently had work done by Sisler Builders' Energy team, led by Mike and Scott. They did an energy audit and full overhaul of our insulation and tightening up of our drafty 1960s home. The team was completely awesome, professional, courteous, communicated well about what they were doing and were easy to have around.
The greatest part was their final product. They left no stone unturned – every last draft was addressed and the insulation they installed made a huge difference not only in our home’s efficiency, but in our overall comfort. I no longer need to hover over my master toilet when

We have dealt with numerous contractors on our home projects over the years. Never before has our experience been so easy and fun as with Sisler Builders. Best remodeling experience we’ve had. Every member of the crew renovating our kitchen was professional, courteous and wonderfully friendly. Would use them again.

I engaged Sisler Builders to help fix a roof ice dam (damn) that was destroying our roof and starting to create water damage. They proposed an energy efficiency study first - at a nominal fee to provide the analytical data on what needed to be done that made the most sense financially in terms of fixing the problem as well as overall energy efficiency payback. The analysis came back with a menu of - some smaller, some larger. All of the projects met the criteria for Efficiency Vermont for a rebate (amounted to almost 10% of the cost) and Sisler would handle all of the paperwork. We did all of it
