In traditional Japanese architecture, A shji () is a door, window or room divider consisting of translucent paper over a frame of wood which holds together a lattice of wood or bamboo. While 'washi' is the traditional paper used, today, laminated materials and other more modern materials are used in today's shji.

Services
We specialize in building sliding shoji doors or screens to create separate partitions in a single space. The doors slide in a top, bottom and side enclosure. Each door moves either on a bottom track or hangs on a top rail, based on your preference. The top track can be ceiling mounted, or can be suspended from an self supporting open header (transom) that allows ventilation above the screens.
We perform repairs on shoji screens if possible and feasible. Most repairs involve replacing the broken "rice paper". Note that we use a strong modern laminated material that requires to replace the old paper in the whole screen, not just a single square in the panel. Also, most older plastics/papers have discolored over time.

I wish I could give 6 stars! Shoji Hawaii installed doors to partition off a portion of our multi-purpose open-plan upstairs area for a guest room. We worried about the effect that partitioning might have on one of the room's main features, a ten-foot window with a view of the Ko'olau. We needn't have worried. The meticulously manufactured and drop-dead gorgeous sapele wood doors and header completely transformed the room. They exceeded my expectations, and my husband and I are very, very pleased with them. The Shoji Hawaii team is great to work with, friendly, and above all

I had to replace old shoji doors that partitioned off my bedroom to the living room. I thought it would be a simple project and tried to DIY it... complete fail! Then I was going to simple build a wall then add a door... complete fail again! I completely lost hope in what to do, then I came across Shoji Hawaii. What a lifesaver is all I can say! Thank you for the wonderful service and QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP! My doors are beautiful and better than my original doors.
I highly recommend Shoji Hawaii to replace old doors or to add value and character to your home. You won't regret it. I know I

We contacted Shoji Hawaii to install a shoji door to enclose our master bath. Peter was super helpful in informing us of the materials used, the different wood types, and an estimated price over the phone. He later came out for measurements and to show us samples and explained how the installation would be done. They import the wood, but all of the construction is done locally in Hawaii. Although there were many designs to choose from, we opted for a customized one that Peter drew out himself. After a 50% down payment, they went to work and Peter kept us advised of the progress. Although he projected

Our master bath basin area had always been a part of the master bedroom in an alcove. During our recent renovations, we decided to close off the alcove with a set of sliding doors. After considering several options, we decided to call on Peter and Bob of Shoji Hawaii. I'm so glad we did! We are so happy with the beautiful cross hatch shoji doors. The doors, frame and ventilating header add a richness to the bedroom. The basin area is now screened off from the rest of the bedroom, and is now a private area for washing up and dressing. These craftsmen take pride in their work. The Philippine

We live on the mainland but have a condo in Honolulu.. Our shoji screen was in desperate need of repair or be replaced. We googled & found this company & took a leap of faith & had them replace our screens. I cannot begin to say how much we LOVE our new screens! They took great care in removing the old screens & expertly hung the new ones up on the existing rails. Thank you again guys!!
