Infill buildings are constructed on vacant or underutilized property or between existing buildings. Emmerson has expertise at assisting cities in redevelopment and beautification.
Services
Emmerson is committed to delivering products and services of exceptional quality to all of its clients. Typical projects include building structures consisting of reinforced or post-tensioned concrete slabs with wood frame construction and stucco exteriors, and several completed projects feature podium decks.
A five-story mixed use development, Mercado del Barrio was awarded the California American Planning Association Award of Excellence and was a 2013 San Diego Housing Federation Ruby Award winner. The development includes Estrella del Mercado (92 affordable family apartments) above 48,000 square feet of retail space, all wrapped around a secured parking structure.
Mixed-use new construction development producing 203 high efficiency micro-apartment units low-income households at risk of homelessness. Alpha Square consists of a single six-story building with a five-story Type III A residential structure above a Type I ground floor concrete podium deck. The ground floor includes two retail spaces at the corner of Market Street and 14th.
Originally built in 1972, the 16-story concrete building is adjacent to the I-5 freeway and provides 152 affordable apartments for seniors. Upon expiration of the affordability restrictions in 2014, the owner selected Emmerson Construction to complete a major rehabilitation of the building-which had not been remodeled since it was originally built.
Completed in 2017, these buildings offer a total of 210 affordable apartments to families and seniors in the celebrated urban village of Millenia in Chula Vista, California. These two communities are Emmerson's most recent collaboration with award-winning architect, Joseph Wong Design Associates.
