Use a pair of binoculars or use your phone to take photos that you can enlarge to get a look at your roof from the safety of the ground. Using a drone is another way to get a look from overhead. Look for missing or curled shingles and/or cracked or missing tiles. Check out your rain gutters. Gutters may become clogged with debris and cause puddling that may harm your roof.
A cool roof is one that has been designed to reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat than a standard roof. Cool roofs can be made of a highly reflective type of paint, a sheet covering, or highly reflective tiles or shingles. Standard or dark roofs can reach temperatures of 150°F or more in the summer sun.
Your new Murakami Strong roof is covered by two warranties that separately cover workmanship and materials. Murakami Roofing will repair any leaks related to the installation of the roof for a period of 7 years beginning on the day of completion of the original roof installation. Most manufacturers offer a limited lifetime warranty, however the specific length of the warranty will vary depending on the type of roof material selected.
If you are thinking of installing solar panels, install them after you have put on your new roof. If you have solar PV panels, consider cleaning the panels which will improve their effciency. If you live in a rainy area, cleaning mold and mildew from the panels will help. Move your vehicles, and advise your neighbors to park far away from the site to avoid falling debris.

So our skylight starting a slow drip that no one would've noticed if I had not been sitting almost directly underneath it. It was about 1-2 hours after all that heavy rain we had so totally unexpected - a slow but steady drip drip drip. Murakami Roofing had done an excellent job many years ago but we took a chance and called.
The office lady was so kind and helpful, explaining that the warranty was long expired. We hadn't even thought about a warranty so weren't disappointed and still asked if they could come. Sure thing and an appointment was made for the Friday.

Worked with Greg the entire time! I live in Washington and my parents roof decided to leak. Called around and Greg not only gave me the best quote, but the only one who responded in a timely fashion. Greg and the team went out, repaired the roof and coordinated a PV panel team to remove and replace the PV panels. Unsure where a leak was coming from I phoned Murakami Roofing who did the original job to investigate. They sent someone right away as a crew was working in the same neighborhood and I was advised it was coming from a loft window. Employee "J" surprised me when he advised he would return the next day and fix it at no charge as I was still under warranty (barely). He did a great job. As I was going through MR website I found that they now install hurricane clips. Asked for an estimate which was reasonable and within a week had that completed as well (they had finished earlier on another

I haven't had issues with the work that was done but beware that warranties on their work is not transferable if the home is sold. Just food for thought if you are considering using this company and planning on selling the property that work is being done on. Also, when I inquired about the warranty it took over a week to get a response (I called and emailed). I've uploaded a picture of the correspondence.

One word....Terrific! From getting an honest estimate to completion of the job, Murakami Roofing is definitely top notch. Clinton came out and inspected areas that were leaking and giving us problems. He looked over our whole roof and told us he wouldn't change the whole roof because it still is in good shape. He looked at our troubled areas and gave us an an honest and fair estimate within a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, he and his crew came the very next day to work on our roof. Absolutely horrible. The team that did our roof were slobs. They took advantage of our hospitality by littering their lunch trash everywhere. I had to buy an industrial magnet to pick up hundreds of nails around my home.
And I look in my attic today to set rat bait only to find tons of debris from the roofing job. Pure trash Murakami. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Terrible!

Very happy with my new roof. Murakami roofing charged me half of what Kapili roofing was going to charge me. I saved big bucks! I highly recommend Murakami Roofing. They did a good job too with taking the old shingles and nails. And they actually took our bulky item which was our old porch roof. Very kind local braddahs.

Earlier this week, strong winds and rain ruined my roof and caused it to leak. I called my insurance company and Murakami Roofing. They were very quick to come out to give me an estimate to repair the damage. A couple days later, the owner himself came out to make the repairs even though there were 70 other homes that were damaged by the wind. I was finally able to sleep at night not having to worry about rain pouring in the middle of my house. I had an excellent experience with Murakami Roofing. I found Mr. Murakami to be very honest when inspecting my roof and coming up with a quote. Our solar salesman said it only needed a coating but the roofer found otherwise saving us a lot of future headaches from a solar system on a bad roof.
Despite having lots of rain delays, their workers quickly came on the clear days to tear the old roof apart. They also took care of the rotted boards and fixed everything quickly and neatly. They also cleaned up well after each day of work.

This has to be the most disorganized and unprofessional roofer with whom i have ever worked. I've own three homes and never ad an issue with a roofing company like this one.
The roofers work hard but the management is terrible - didn't bring the correct supplies, ordered the wrong paint, the foreman on the job sounds like he's struggling and the people at the shop are unfriendly.
And they think if they come back and fix sloppy work for free that it's OK? No!!! Time is almost as valuable as money.
Do not waste your money or time.

March 2018, had our roof done in 2017 by Murakami's.. All the recent bouts of rain caused ponding on the roof. Called to inform them of the situation.. they came to assess and returned last couple days to remove damaged parts and reroof the area. We are extremely happy with their professional service and their commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Murakami was very professional from beginning to end. Shelly was quick to respond in regards to the bidding, scheduling and payment. The workers were very professional. They brought their own portable toilet on sight, cleaned up after the job was done and completed our re-roofing on schedule. I would highly recommend Murakami roofing.

I couldn’t be happier with my new roof! It looks great, the color blends in well and matches the house and the surroundings. During the two days of removing old shingles, making necessary repairs to water damaged wood, and installing new shingles and drip edges, all the workers were most courteous and respectful, very professional, no loud music or loud yelling was ever heard. They were prompt to respond to my on-line request for an estimate and quick to schedule the guy (owner) to come out and take a look at my roof; However, he came on a Friday and said it would take him a full week to get an estimate back to me. The other roofing companies that I used got an estimate back to me within one business day. To make matters worse, he never sent an estimate at all. I don't think he wanted the job which he should have just said.

I have used Murakami Roofing for two residential jobs in the past three years. They are very professional and do really nice work. I was most impressed by the fact that they do not fool around. They arrive at the appointed time with a full crew and a yard full of equipment. They work fast and clean and they pay attention to detail. Price wise they were a tad lower than the second bid I got and they included a couple of little extras I asked for.

August of 2014 Murakami's Roofing LLC sent their employee Keoki (I think) who fixed 2 vent fans (1 to the living area and 1 to the attic) and tuned up several problems with the laps on the roofing material. They also did applied led flashing to various roof top areas such as plumbing vents.
In my opinion their pricing is just a little high. After all 1 guy on my roof for 6 - 7 hours was around $1000 for labor. Seems like quite a bit.
HOWEVER, they were very professional and their work is insurred. In fact when hurricane Ana brushed by us I developed a new leak in my son's room.

I like how they got the job done right, the first time. I'm so satisfied with the quality they had on our families new roof. My aunty had referred us to another company (I will not say who) who do roof repairs at a relatively cheap price. Well you get what you pay for with that company because after looking at their yelp reviews, we ran far away from them. Thankfully we came across Murkami's roofing on yelp as well, and everything seemed right so we hired them, and everything was beyond our expectations.

Needed some bids on my house I was renovating, and I called Murakami's and 5 other companies. Murakami's bid was in the middle, but what sold me was their free onsite estimate. The estimator came early and was more thorough than any other company was, and gave me hard numbers on the job. After that, I had to chance it with these guys because it felt the most pono. So I gave them the bid, and after we signed the contract, they came and did the work. Called these guys from their ad on Google offering free gutters a few months ago. Set up the estimate appointment, and they were replacing our roofing in a week. They worked fast, and did a great job. Murakami's roofing has some other bad reviews on yelp, but I really don't see where the "bad reputation" in this company is. I really have no idea.
All I know is they did a great job again, and my wife was very happy, so I'm happy! Haha

I really am not sure why they have 2 bad reviews because my experience was flawless. They got to my house early however waited until the correct time to engage with us since it was the morning. After explaining thoroughly what they were doing, they got started on our 4bd house roof. We live in mililani and our house is fairly big, but they got everything done in 1 day!
It seems these other reviewers had issues with contacting the company. I myself had absolutely no problem getting into contact with them and got a price quote the same day and they were at my house the next week
