I have designed several award winning homes in the Lowcountry. My designs are collaboration between the client and my sense of special layouts. I tend towards rational spaces and believe that it is never necessary to overcomplicate the design. A clear cut solution executed in a simple manner that is well detailed is usually the most beautiful over time.
I was raised in northeast Ohio in the university town of Kent with my three younger brothers. Always interested in architecture, I was an active participant in the design two separate homes that my parents built while I was a child. I have traveled extensively throughout the world, from China to Alaska.
One of my favorite trips was riding a bicycle across the Unites States with my brother, Adam. I am married to Katherine and I have two children, Mary Elizabeth, born in 2006 and Nash born in 2020. I enjoy playing golf, paddle boarding and jogging the beach. Company was formed in 2003 to specialize in high end custom projects.

We spent several months with Mr. Vaccaro getting our difficult design correct. He was exceptional in understanding our vision and was able to transform them into another dream home for us. We had an excellent experience under challenging circumstances. When walking our lot during the preliminary planning phase, we learned that a significant live oak would have to be removed to accommodate a traditional square house. Therefore, we asked Mike to design a home that would allow us to save the tree. He brought in a arborist to assure that the tree was healthy and to determine the required foundation spacing to keep it that way. The end result is a home that is simply beautiful. It fits the lot perfectly, and the oak tree is alive and well. We regularly receive compliments on our design

Mike would be my architect of choice for any building project in the Low Country. I have worked with architects in the past, none of whom were as able to translate to desires and ideas into a finished home as easily and effectively as Mike has. This home fits the lot perfectly (and that's saying quite a bit since there is water on three sides of the home), fits the neighborhood exceptionally well, and most importantly, fits me and the way I live. I have owned a number of homes and have never been as pleased as with this one.

Five years ago we built a custom designed home with Mr. Vaccaro. It had many unique features that are not common in many homes, including many architectural/artistic features. What made the experience great is that Mr. Vaccaro was a great listener and was able to capture our vision within two drafts of the drawings. He also made many suggestions that made our home even better than we envisioned as we refined those drawings. We have had many friends who have worked with Architectural firms who had the experience of the Architect designing what he/she wanted to make a statement, not what the client

Vaccaro architecture was highly recommended when I was researching for a company to finalize my custom home design. Mike was great to work with and attentive to all my design ideas.He was willing to do as little or as much as I wanted including applying for county permits. I would not hesitate to use Vaccaro Architecture on another custom home project in the future
