We spent hours trying to find the right furniture for our new home - maybe 20 furniture stores. We wanted something modern and affordable. We could not find what we needed. Then we randomly found this place and were amazed by all the nice things that they have. You need to pay attention because the show room is not that big and there is a lot of things so it might be difficult at the first glance to find what you are looking for. We had a nice experience here. We browsed for a bit on our own and then a young woman working showed us some products and talked to us about customization options.
We ordered some very nice chairs that we customized with a fabric seat color that wasn't in stock. They warned us it was a 3 month lead time, and they were accurate with their estimate.
We did get chastised for taking photos of furniture, but when we explained why we were taking photos, they helped us. They didn't want us taking pictures of the prices of the furniture (I'm assuming so it doesn't get posted online

The owners are friendly and easy to talk to. Not pushy and genuinely trying to help, get you the best deal for your needs. I needed to buy a bed. Came in. Looked at the catalog and the owner suggested a few choices from what I was looking at.
I also bought a different mattress from online company. The owner assured me that what they have is going to work better as his whole family swears by this brand and sleep on them. Bought bed and mattress from Star modern furniture. The owners were very friendly and showed what they had available at their showroom as well as in their catalog. They weren't pushy or trying to upsell like few other stores I went to. They were knowledgeable and explained to my husband and me the Benefits of one bed over another. At the end we went with their suggestions and have to regrets. The bed and the mattress were delivered earlier than promised and put together in our house. Overall the service and communication was great. I have no complaints and would buy more furniture from them

We had excellent experience buying a convertible sectional at Star Modern Furniture. Prior to coming here, we looked through various online and physical stores, including Ikea and Living Spaces, but had no luck finding what we needed. The owner and his family were extremely helpful, and went above and beyond to get us the perfect sofa. They didn't have the sectional we ended up buying on display at the time, but were able to show us the pictures and fabrics, so that we had a good idea of what we were getting. The price was fair, and the furniture was delivered and installed within 1 week

The negative ratings here are cracking me up. I suspect they are coming from folks who are uncomfortable interfacing with different cultures and don't understand what it means to hustle for a living. Someone gave an indignant one-star-rating because the owner wouldn't sell a piece of furniture for 2/3 the sticker price ($1800-$1200). Another was upset that the owner didn't want them eating an ice cream cone on a sofa. The sofas in here are pretty high-end so what do they expect?

I have recently purchased six leather dining chairs and I had a good experience. I am Italian and I LOVE Italian design furniture and this store carries a nice selection of items. I know that design furniture is very expensive. Star Modern Furniture sells also good reproductions that are not made in Italy and are far less pricey. The owner has been very honest with me regarding the fact that my chairs are made in Indonesia and not in Italy. He promised they are of real leather and will not peel off. To prove his point he showed my samples of real leather material along with faux leather ones.

My experience with this place is similar to others' complaints about their absolute lack of customer service and outright disrespect in some cases. They were more than happy in taking my credit card number and were able to provide quick delivery, but in any sort of contact, they were never responsive, I always had to follow-up with them to ensure everything was in-order.

We went to several furniture stores prior of stopping by Star Modern Furniture. We ordered Sofa bed, loveseat, and chair from here and had a great experience! Salesman was very helpful, let us take time and answered all our questions. Good quality of contemporary European style furniture. We came out choosing the right furniture at the right price. Delivery was free for us and we received our order in about a week. Delivery guy come in promising day and time, was very polite and professional. We like our new living set. This is definitely our favorite furniture store.

This store represents everything I hate about traditional, local business. Their stuff isn't that great, and their prices aren't great either; and you're expected to haggle if you want a fair price. I suspect there's a reason this place is empty.
I got yelled at for taking a picture of an item I was interested in. It's ironic, because I think it's likely I may have bought it. That treatment basically makes my likelihood of buying it go from 'maybe' to 'nope.' I understand that this is a common restriction in these kinds of stores

Despite a very mediocre service, we have ordered and paid 50% advance of a living room sofa back in October. we were promised delivery within 2-3 months. It's been 5 month and there are no furniture in the horizon. Beyond frustrating, will not set foot in this store again. Felt the need to share this unfortunate experience.

I had a fun time reading the bad reviews... And I actually agree and understand some of them. The owners are Russians with what I call the "older communist mentality" - so I totally get the cultural clash with the US, esp. liberal Bay Area :-) Where the customer is the master of the Universe.

Love this furniture store in downtown Mountain View. I've been buying furniture there for almost 8 years. They sell mostly contemporary stuff, which is cool and exactly what I'm looking for. Although they don't have much of a showroom space to display models, they have a set of catalogs of quality Italian and local manufacturers. I've been looking for Calligaris furniture in many stores in Bay Area, and found prices in this store hard to beat. Possibly one of the worst shopping and customer service experiences I have ever had. But -- if youre looking for pure comedy on how NOT to run a businesses, i definitely recommend stopping by.
The owner, his wife, and daughter are all pretty rude. Their "european" furniture is actually made in China and falls apart after about a year. Then they will blame YOU on misuse of the furniture.
If I wanted a couch that fell apart after a few years, I would have gone to Ikea and paid 1/4 of the price.

I have read quite a few reviews of this store and I am little surprised as to how negative they were. I live in Mountain View and over the last few years have bought a few pieces of furniture from the store.
My most recent purchase was a very nice leather sofa, on the whole considering the quality of the product I feel like I got a good deal, even after looking at similar couches elsewhere.
Having the couch delivered was easy enough and they were flexible scheduling the time with me.
