New Homes By Brill
Homes by Brill will help you design and build a unique custom home that fits your family perfectly. We'll help you from start to finish with every step of the process, making it as stress-free as possible. We'll help you get ideas for styles and layouts (from model homes and other resources), and perfect location.

We'll help you identify your budget, understand your financing options, and get you prequalified! Our proposal will break down every aspect of how your home will be built, including a custom-drawn floor plan. We help you arrange financing (both for the construction loans and for your long-term mortgage), draw up a set of blueprints, and get the planning and permitting process started.

All during the design and build process, we remain available to help you from beginning to end. We'll take you to visit some of our preferred vendors to choose cabinetry, flooring, plumbing fixtures, windows, countertops, appliances, and everything else! We stay in constant contact with you to make sure you always know what's going on and are continuously involved in design and construction decisions of your family's custom built home.
Services
It's more than just building homes for us. It's about building lifelong relationships. The kind of relationships that enable us to provide our clients with the most trustworthy, experienced and proven team that the Des Moines area has to offer. We carry these relationships with us throughout the planning, development and construction process.
Homes By Brill is a full-service home builder based in Des Moines, Iowa. We have everything you need to make your dream home a reality. From our initial consultation, we focus on building a relationship with you and your family as much as building a place you can call home. To put it simply, it means we have everything you need to make your dream home a reality.
Homes by Brill is proud to be an authorized Stratford Homes partner. This allows us to bring Stratford's economical housing concept to more families in Des Moines and the surrounding areas while ensuring the highest quality construction and management through each home build process. A modular home is one that is constructed in a warehouse rather than on site at a homeowner's property.
All residential construction goes through a period of settlement, and as the seasons change, periods of expansion or contraction will occur. As a result, your new home will experience minor changes and problems that are unavoidable. You may also discover minor imperfections that weren't obvious at first, like squeaky doors, sticky cabinet drawers, or cosmetic issues.
It's exciting to think about building your dream home, but it can also be a little overwhelming! There are so many decisions to make and so many things to think about. Where do you start? We'll help! We've got more than thirty years of experience designing and building homes customized to our clients' distinct lifestyles.

From the start to the finish Mr. Brill was always up front and honest with the process. We were warned that most builders are a pain to work with, he was an absolute delight. We were even somewhat sad when the house was finished, he became part of our family. I would definitely build my next home with Mr. Brill. On a scale from 1-10 he is a 10, highly recommended.

My wife and I just completed our first ever custom home build, and I must say that the experience was a good one. We were referred to Don by a co-worker of my wife's that said he was good to work with. He came as advertised. He was honest, upfront, and easy to work with. No question was a dumb question, and he explained everything in simple terms, which made the entire process easy for us. He was always accessible if we needed to call and ask questions, and his door was always open for a meeting if needed. Sure, some small issues came up, but that will happen with building a new home. Don was quick

Although we ended up not building, Don made the decision VERY hard for us to choose otherwise. Everything and anything we needed he was right there with some advise and help, he bent over backwards to help us get to where we wanted to be. I would HIGHLY recommend Homes by Brill to any and everyone who wants to find their forever. 2 months into our house renovation I think I’ve said “why didn’t we build with Don” about 1000 times!

We've been in our new home for just over a month now and we LOVE it!!! Don was our 3rd builder...meaning we tried with two other companies that assured us that they could build a house we could afford. After paying for blueprints, neither house was close to the cost we were originally given. With Don, we didn't have that issue. He was up front about all the potential costs. We also got more with our house plan from Don than we would have from the other two builders AND we paid less in the long run. We also appreciated that we didn't have to use the exact house plans that were initially shown to

I've been fortunate enough to work alongside Don Brill for nearly 20-years in the Des Moines area building industry and can unequivocally attest to his high moral and ethical character and vast and skillful knowledge of the home building process. It's an honor to play a part in producing a Homes by Brill project - an honor that always leads to a very satisfied homeowner.

Mary Jo K thinks homebuilding with Homes By Brill is “Sooooo much fun” because she is the Office Manager from Homes By Brill. She works 10 feet from the owner. How shady is that?
The truth is these homes are garbage. Brill built our home and it’s falling apart. The owner knows better than you no matter how strange something seems or how many times you’ve done this in the past. Of course you don’t need house wrap he said! Pictures of the mold and rot have been added to the images gallery. We have to replace the sheathing (rotted away), some insulation, the siding, and all of the stone

This was our first home building experience and we had to learn fast because Home By Brill made us do most of the work. Caught SEVERAL issues in the construction before they did, had to call all the contractors ourselves to work out the issues and the quality was average at best. When things DO go wrong it is somehow your fault even though they promote themselves on specializing first time buyers. We would not recommend because we're not sure what we paid the general contractor for.
