We have only kudos for the service we got from McDowell & Son. We moved to the area in March, and knew the house we purchased had a heating & AC system that were original to the house and well past their typical rated lifespans, and likely to die on either the hottest or coldest day of the year. Getting replacements was always on our list of "to do's," and so we called a highly rated HVAC company to get a quote. The guy came out, looked around, and then NEVER provided a quote despite repeated calls and requests. OK ... on to McDowell & Son.

Well, unfortunately after a few years I have to lower my review. While they were good at the small job of inspecting my furnace, they couldn't handle a larger job of installing central air in my home. I called to get a quote and after a week of not hearing anything I called back. It's been about 2 months and I'm still waiting for Terri to call me back. I was able to call a different company, Honke Heating & Air Conditioning in Gresham. They came out, gave me a quote and installed my new AC unit before I even got a call back from McDowell or his Son. Hood River flakey customer

Excellent service! My A/C broke and I was desperate for assistance because the heat wave had everyone booked for the remainder of the week. Terri called me back and walked me through what he anticipated was the problem and even explained how I might fix it myself (since his technicians were also booked for a few days). He was so thorough in his explanation and patient with me, considering I'm a person who has never even given an A/C unit a second glance. He even offered to sell me a spare part that I could install myself! He genuinely seemed to care about my situation and even told me to call

While I was gone in Belize on a missions trip my wife who was 7 months pregnant had the misfortune of our furnace going out. McDowell and Son's brought her heat on a Saturday, diagnosed the problem and ordered parts. Our furnace was fixed that following week faster and less expensive than our neaighbors furnace that was fixed by another company and they did not get portable heat or Saturday service!
