Slab sawing is common practice when a large, horizontal area of concrete needs to be cut. A slab saw is large and powerful, making it the perfect tool to cover large areas in a short amount of time. The slab sawing technique is used to create a hole in existing concrete for the purpose of installing a staircase, removing damaged concrete, or expanding a joint.
Wall sawing is common practice for cutting concrete on a vertical surface. The most popular reason for wall sawing is to create window and door openings in an existing concrete wall. Vertical wall cutting is also used when large concrete panels need to be removed. Furthermore, the wall sawing technique is effective on horizontal surfaces that are not accessible by a slab saw.
Wire sawing is a specialized technique used for jobs with tough conditions. A wire saw features multiple diamond cables passing through a system of pulleys to cut sections of concrete that cannot be cut with traditional saws. Wire saws are ideal for cutting large, thick concrete columns or beams in tight quarters, at high heights, or in dangerous conditions - such as being under water.
