Called at 8:20 am with a plumbing leak. Was told the handyman would call. At 10:30 I called back, and was told the handyman would call. I made it very clear that I needed the problem addressed that day. Called back at 12:30 and was told the handyman would call. At 2pm, nothing heard from anyone. Inexcusable. And rude.

I'm so grateful I stumbled across Alycia from Hollywood Handy. I went through
a really, really bad experience from an Air bnb guest who wrecked my place
and as I had to file a claim immediately, Air bnb had a certain amount of hours within which I had to provide an estimate of all the damages and see if I qualify for compensation.
Alycia was quick, efficient, caring, and basically helped me with everything I needed in order to submit this claim on time. I'm so grateful because in such a stressful situation as this is, when someone makes one part easier, its restores your faith :-

After a nice response that suggested immediate service I was psyched that someone would come out that afternoon and fix my kitchen light fixture's wiring. After an hour went by with no follow up call from anyone, I realized I had no firm commitment and called back. Only then was I forwarded to Alycia who promised Ricky would be out the next morning at 8:00 a.m. Ricky was on there on the dot and worked through the antique wiring issues like a hero. Payment was a breeze. And I could not be happier with the work. If you keep calling until you get Alycia and Ricky and I think you should be good

I called a bunch of people on yelp for help with a leak and fixing my bathroom floor. Joe was available that week to help which was great luck. My husband and i loved that he was on time, competent, worked really clean, and dedicated to getting the job done well. He is a great problem solver, and sounds like second or 3rd generation builder and handy man! He had to come back a second day to finish the job and was able to squeeze us in the same week. Best if all he used non toxic products to remove all the glue on our concrete floor. Would definitely recommend him for a job and plan on hiring him

I used Joe again to fix the cracked grout in my shower floor as well as repair the drywall in the dining room ceiling and closet which was damaged from the leaky shower. Joe's work has always been good in the past but this time I was really really disappointed. Since I asked my tenant to call Joe directly, I wasn't aware of his new price structure and the $75 estimate fee until after he had come out to bid the job and I received the estimate. Can't discuss his actual work as a handyman or contractor. But like Karen H. said in her review, there may be communication problems. I had made an appointment last Sunday for a Wednesday evening fix of a lighting fixture with a broken ceiling push pin recessed bulb. I wasn't called afterwards to confirm the appointment. Then I left a message that Wednesday to cancel as broken bulb already replaced, which wasn't easy. I asked to get a call back just to confirm they got the message to cancel the appointment, as well as texted their cellphone number. I never got any response

I had used Joe in the past and had good experiences, but the last time I called him I had to call him back twice to get him to respond. I should have contacted someone else at that point, but I was on maternity leave and dealing with a newborn. Then, we made an appointment and my tenants made a point to be home and he never showed and didn't call to say why. I texted him and asked him what had happened and never heard back. I suppose there might have been an emergency or something going on, but I would have thought that he would have contacted me with an explanation at a later date. The

However he did not finish the job. The window tinting fell off window within 36 hours, and he was supposed to return to fix a window screen because he forgot
The mesh material......he promised to call and return to no avail......I called to try resolve but he has not returned call in a week.
On good faith I paid him! Big mistake.
Got a call from Hollywood Handy......all good ....he will take care of me ....wife almost ready to give birth........

Finally found Joe after browsing through 3 pages of handy men searching from my zip code. After leaving message after message to other handy men, Joe is the only one that actually has an assistant who picked up and arranged for a visit. It's a major plus not to have to play phone tag when you have a flood in your house.
Joe showed up right on time and immediately found the source of the problem and provided an accurate estimate. A water heater was replaced the very next day, and now I have no more excuses not showering.

Beware their $75 estimate fee. They wanted a $75 service fee to drive less than 3 miles, in my case Hollywood to Silver Lake, for an estimate. High for an estimate, since they're just a handymen service, and I'd recently gotten 2 other estimates from licensed contractors (one all the way from Sherman Oaks), with no estimate fee whatsoever. I'm doing a $30,000 bathroom renovation and I'd have thought they'd be pleased to have a chance to bid the job.

Joe did a variety of jobs for me, and I was very pleased with the work and general skill level. He works with a bunch different guys. Most of them seem quite competent. There is one issue which they might do better which is to focus on washing up more. Of course, they get dirty doing the work that they do, but they left a few dirt marks that I haven't been able to get out and need to be painted over.
That said, I would highly recommend these guys.

Joe did an excellent job in my apartment installing a ceiling fan in my living room. There was no box in the ceiling, and he did all the necessary work to make it work, adding a box strong enough to take the weight of the fan, and doing a clean installation of the electrical wiring and the switch. It looks like the apartment came with it.
He said he would do it in two days, gave me a quote, and that's exactly what he did. Highly recommend him, and now I'm thinking of other projects for him...
