Ygrene started with a simple mission: improve the environment and strengthen communities by removing the barriers to financing energy efficiency home improvement projects. To get there, Ygrene Executive Chairman Dennis Hunter established a new system of financing that helped homeowners make improvements and reduce carbon emissions.
Soon after, the Ygrene PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) program was born. In 2010, Ygrene worked with multiple local banks to secure the strong financial partnerships that provide the backbone for Ygrene's fully-funded model.

We just had all new windows and doors installed on our home which was financed through Ygrene. It was a great way to finance home improvements like these that we couldn't otherwise afford. The loan approval process was completed in a couple days, and we had the money in less than a month. Thank you Ygrene!

When they say customer satisfaction is extremely important to them I now believe it. Tania Hernandez was incredible. She communicated with me every step of the way. The application process was easy! it took less than 72 hours to get approved. Thank you Ygrene for employing Tania as her service was impeccable.

They hide the truth and tell you what you need to hear to get you in. Bottom line ... they lien my property without any job done, I called and cancelled though I was told that if no job is done I won't be liable. But with zero job done they placed a lien on my property without me being aware . 1 year later I tried getting refinance the title company said I have a lien.. but they didn't know the amount ! This is ridiculous. The title company and the bank handling the refinance also agreed that they lie to many innocent consumers. Now I have to wait two weeks to have the lien removed for

Company was great to work with. You receive a dedicated representative who is able to walk you through the program, how it works and what to expect. They also assist with finding, as well as enrolling, contractors to meet the needs of your project. Makes it easy to be able to get energy efficient improvements done on your home in an affordable and manageable way.

We completed many windows and doors project, since we did not had money, we went with the financing option with Ygrene.
* The interest rate we got is higher than mortgage interest rate, but it was easy and quick. And we have to pay once a year with the county's property tax bill. A convenient payment method.
* They charged high origination fee, 3%. Total closing fees came out to be ~8% of the financing.
* You must check, documents that contractor provides to Ygrene, as in our case, the contractor did not disclosed all items (doors) to Ygrene. But thanks god that contractor delivered those

I would give a lower rating if possible. I cannot stress enough to not do business with Ygrene. We would have been better off taking out cash from the house to pay for repairs needed. We've refinanced our home and Ygrene gives the run around, refusing to help us to simply pay them in full. They keep extending it out between their company and a third party company (we had to Google because Ygrene refused to share info). It has been a nightmare dealing with Ygrene, and just trying to pay them in full so we can place them behind us. And calls and emails that are proofs don't seem to phase

I thought I was getting a great deal at 1st. No down payment and 15 years to payoff. Little did I know that Ygrene is only out to get you into a BAD contract that with interest rates that are unchangeable and on top of that they will not even allow me to prepay unless I pay the entire amount which is over $28,000. By the end of the 15year term I will end up paying just over $48,000 for a project that was suppose to be half that. When I contacted customer service I get the run around and they tell you that someone is going to call you back but you never get a call unless they think they are making

This company sucks. Don't trust Ygrene in anyway. You will be charged more in interest than anything else. They also out right lie to you. With the type of loans that they give out they have a chance to seize your home and any other property assets. The don't tell people anything about the interest rate. I have been on the phone multiple times with multiple people and they never say the same thing.
All I wanted to do was pay this off and they said to send it to the tax collector of our city. Then I get a call from my bank and was directed to call Ygrene bank, which I did and they said

I financed my $93,045 solar panel project with Ygrene on 12/21/2019. Recently I contacted them to try to payoff the entire loan. On 9/1/2020 they sent me a payoff quote of $108,764.70 which is over $16k interest/penalty in less than a year. I tried to speak to several managers at Ygrene, but they are all reading the same scripted message with fancy words that describe fees which are basically a pretty alternative to penalty or in plain English: a scam. There's no financial institution, especially during this pandemic, that will charge you a gangster style fee of 17% in a matter of a few months

Ygrene was very helpful in approving me for a home repair that was a necessity to have completed. Other financing was looking solely at credit score which mine is fair not terrible but not at the score most require. Ygrene helped with taking inconsieration the home equity to approve a loan and paid the contractor hired directly with an agreed payment agreement between myself an ygrene to pay back. I would highly recommend for anyone in my position but in need of a home repair.
