Spray polyurethane closed cell foam has an R-Value of approximately 7.0 per one inch thickness and our open cell foam has an R-Value of approximately 3.8 per one inch thickness (depending upon application). Our foam provides more thermal resistance with less material than any other type of commercial insulation.
Our open cell foam insulation is a half pound density foam with an R-value that ranges from 3.9 to 4.2. One set of open cell foam yeilds approximately 16,000 board feet. Open cell foam provides excellent thermal insulating and air barrier properties. In addition, open cell foam is incredibly effective as a sound dampener, absorbing mid to high frequency sound.
Our closed-cell foam is a 2 pound density foam with an R-value of 7. This foam is great for exterior and interior projects because it prevents moisture infiltration through air leaks and adds to the structural integrity of the building. Closed cell foam is a flood resistant material and is capable of withstanding direct and prolonged contact with floodwater without sustaining significant damage.
A board foot is a square foot at one inch depth. This measurement is used in the spray foam industry because it takes into account the square footage of the surface you will be spraying as well as how many inches of foam you will apply. To determine the board feet for you project first calculate the square footage of the surface you will be spraying and then simply multiply by how many inches of foam you would like.
