Comporium, known then as the Rock Hill Telephone Company, was founded in 1894 by John Anderson, John Cherry, and Andrew Smith. During the first year, the company installed 27 phone lines, most of them connecting the businesses and suppliers of the company's founders. We live in Fort Mill SC and was "forced" to go Stream TV. Technicians are friendly when they came out to switch us from cable to streaming. Been NOTHING but headaches ever since the switch. To turn channels you have to down the key up or down... NO quick way or you just can't put in 106 to go from channel 344 (Fox News) to 106 (NBC). Second problem...the picture freezes. Third issue..You have to make sure no other TVs are on if you pay for 2 Stream TV and you're going into the 3rd room to watch TV. Fourth issue... They make you call Amazon if you have problems with the remote

We have been having difficulty and outage of our Internet and Wifi for about 8 weeks. We have had technicians come without a mask or shoe coverings. We have missed the end of many football games. The time spent trying to get it fixed is ridiculous. They changed things before their new modems and routers have come in. Not a smart high level decision. As soon as we can get our new provider to finish the lines, it will be a happy day. I feel sorry for the front line folks who answer the phone. They are very patient and nice. Absolutely terrible service.

Terrible experience.... Called on a Friday to set up time for installation. Was told between 1-5 Monday would be earliest. Told customer service rep I would not be home from work until 330. She told me the installer would call 30 minutes before arrival and understood my timing needs.
Received call at 1pm Monday saying the installer was on his way. I informed him I would be at work until 330. He agreed and told me "Rush home." During my rush home I called to double check. Was told "ok."
I am now calling them again at 6 pm, no installer, and after literally 20 minutes on

Since the day I moved into the Comporium service area, I have nothing but internet outage issues. The sad part, Comporium doesn't even care. Their go to line is, everything is okay on our end. Well, when you have no internet, there is an issue.
Their phone support needs training as most that I have talked to do not even know what ping means. Now that is pretty sad !

Horrible company. I just moved into a new house with my fiancé, and because I had a good experience with comporium in the past at my old apartment I thought I'd use them. Tried getting internet at the house on move in day and was told my house didn't exist in the system and they needed to send a tech out. 2 days go by and I call again, and they say they didn't even send a tech out. Waited two days again and then called. They say I'm good to go but the original rep who put the request for tech in needed to set me up. Was told she would call me in a few moments to set me up.

I had home automation services with this company for several years. I paid a bill every month for self monitored security and automation service. The company sends a few letters saying I need to "upgrade" to keep my services working. The monthly cost will be double and the cost of the new router(hub) will be 49 dollars. I go ahead and get the stuff mailed to me and open to find out that they changed platform to Z-wave. I have a couple thousand dollars worth of equipment in my home that is Zigbee. I call company and they said they changed formats and said that I am SOL. Had no interest

My experience with Comporium started off pretty good. The install went smoothly, the installers was on time and the service was good for the first couple of months. Then we started having problems with our video quality and internet dropping. Then 9 months later we moved out of our apartment on 5/10. I paid my final bill in full on 5/10 even though we closed our account mid-way through a billing cycle and it's 7/11 today and I still don't have my money back! Why does it take Comporium over 2 months to get me my money and is it even legal for them to hold my money for this long?

If you keep Comporium because your monthly rate will go from $286 to $140 if you switch to live streaming there are some things you need to be aware of.
1) The firestick remote does not have the capability to enter channel numbers. No numbers on the remote. You have to go to the guide and scroll.
2) The sound constantly goes up and down.
3) The channels regularly freeze.
4) If you encounter a problem with the firestick you have to call Amazon tech support.
5) When you call Comporium customer support be aware, because they could be putting dishes away, eating etc. Very aggravating because

My experience with Comporium has been awful. I was forced to use a fire stick technology. The TV freezes often and need to continue to reset it. In addition I did not want to give my SS number so had to give $600 to open the account. I was to get my refund back after one year. There were multiple billing errors on the part of Comporium.
My monthly bill went up by $100 dollars to $275. It took two months to get right. I could not work it out over the phone with service. I had to drive 20 miles and spend two hours in the store.
The mistakes that have been made on behalf of Comporium continue.

How is this place still in business? Terrible service from every part of the company!
Our WiFi was out for 2 weeks of the 4 in our recent billing cycle. They were well aware of it because trucks were in our neighborhood often but couldn't figure out how to get our service working. When the bill came, it was for a full $115. I had been told all month that they wouldn't charge us for all the time that we had no service.
Well, it's out again and I've been on hold for 32 minutes the first time and 33 this time (as I'm writing) and I still haven't talked to anybody. I

We've had Comporium TV and Internet for almost a year. The good: Installation was great. They came out when they said they would. The installation person was professional and courteous. I've only had contact tech support twice (internet upgrade questions) and they've answered the phone quickly.
TV service: OK. Not the best but not the worst I've had. The multi-channel DVR is nice but we found their software to use it less than optimal. E.g., if you want to delete a TV show, you must start to watch it first, skip through the show and then delete instead of just a separate delete
