Our heritage is steeped in the values of a true craftsman. Quality, artistry and detail have defined our cabinets from the very first day. Crown Cabinetry was founded in 1974 in the heart of America, Abilene Kansas. We are multiple generations of craftsmen carrying on the traditions of fine wood working in all of our custom products.
Often referred to as a half-inch overlay, the door covers the opening a half-inch on all sides. This leaves approximately one-inch of the face frame exposed. It is a very traditional look. The doors and drawers almost entirely cover the face frame with only a quarter-inch showing. A full overlay is a designer's choice for the upscale style.
Crown Cabinetry only uses post-catalyzed conversion varnish. Before we spray this type of finish, it is first mixed with a catalyst in-house. Its done in small individual batches because it only lasts for 8 hours. The catalyst causes a chemical reaction bonding the finish to the wood. Most cabinet shops use a bulk manufactured pre-catalyzed varnish because it's less expensive and faster for them.
One of the most beautiful wood species for building cabinetry. Cherry has a reddish hue and stains well with all colors and is known for "sweetening" or darkening over time, especially within the first several months. The grain pattern is soft and curly. One of the clearest wood spices, maple is known for its minimal soft grain and is ideal for light stains.

Ryan designed and built custom cabinets for my woodworking shop. He also designed and built a work island/outfeed table for the middle of the shop. He designed the cabinets and table so that all dust collection ducts and electrical are hidden. I now have more drawers and cabinets than I can use! They did a fabulous job and are worth every nickel.
