For over 40 years The Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design has served as the only institution on Long Island dedicated to the advancement of Interior Design through education, professional development and outreach. The Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design prides itself in helping students gain the skills to do creative, residential and commercial designs that are functional, safe, beautiful and sustainable.

Advanced program studies recognized by the American Society of Interior Design (ASID) include Kitchen & Bath Design, Lighting, Window Design, REVIT Architecture (CAD), Environmental and Sustainable studies. Students in the advanced studies intern with some of the most prestigious design firms on Long Island and have successfully auditioned for and completed many design home showcases.

Programs Report

Practical Aspects is a 4 semester diploma program, which can be fast tracked in 10 months, covers the strong emphasis on principles and elements, color harmony, historical styles, residential and commercial designing. The advanced studies program in interior design is a 2 year professional program.

Workshops Report

This is an exclusive and unique seminar for Real Estate Professionals & Designers. It is certified by the NYS Department of Education and is only offered at MID. This seminar is an introduction to conceptual and practical methodologies of Staging. It teaches the philosophy of Staging, which is drastically different from the philosophy of Design.

Admission Report

Every student is required to complete an Admissions Application to attend the Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design. For your convenience, you may apply online. Provide proof of graduation from secondary education or high school equivalency. This can be in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Faq Report

What kind of degree will I receive when I graduate from MID? Upon completion of our Interior Designers Program, students will receive a diploma of completion. Upon completion of our Advanced Studies Program, students will receive an advanced diploma. Are Individual Electives available at MID? Yes. Students may take elective classes to earn credits.
