Jeff is one of only a few dozen pool designers in the world who has achieved the level of Society of Watershape Designers (SWD) in the esteemed Genesis3 Design Group. Jeff is also a Certified Building Professional (CBP) as accredited by the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from San Diego State University and a MBA from the University of Houston.
He continues to attend industry training and workshops on a regular basis to expand his design and construction capabilities and knowledge. As a native of Austin, Ruben began his career in the construction industry at a very young age. He started in the home construction industry and then transitioned into the pool business fulltime way back in 1980.

We're looking to build a large pool. $225k. I called and left three voice mails over three weeks for Athena. No response. Sent an email on their website. Received email response a month later, saying they needed $500. I responded "That's fine, but can we have a conversation first? Would you look over the property? Do you have time?" It's been two weeks with no response. Emailed again. No response.
I understand they are very good and perhaps too busy, but it would be courteous to have an auto reply, a notice on the website, and v/m greeting, advising that they are too busy

Excellent experience working with Jeff and Athena Pools on our first pool!

This was our first time having a pool built. Jeff came out to give us our first bid on the project, and we were so impressed with his knowledge and expertise we decided to go with Athena Pools. The project went so smoothly and the final result was fantastic! The pool Jeff designed was exactly what we had envisioned. Jeff's project manager, Rueben, is also a great part of his team. What an incredible experience! Athena had been recommended to us by a friend who said that they do beautiful work and that Jeff is extremely meticulous and involved in the process from start to finish. All of that was true.

I came across Athena Pools on Yelp, and soon after discovered a friend had used them last year for their pool build. Out of the builders we met with, Jeff was the most professional and by far the best at understanding what our wants were, and what would work best in our yard.
The contract and design process was seamless, communication was better than I could have imagined, and the entire project went incredible smooth. Our builder gave us 4 pool builders that they considered eligible and qualified to build a pool for our custom home. We interviewed 3 of the 4 and selected Athena. They got our business because the pricing was clear and competitive, and the design that Jeff did demonstrated that he listened to what we wanted, then came up with a great design based on our sketches and his experience. We've been in the house and using the pool for a year now. The pool was built very well. Service after the sale has been great. No surprises in the costs during the build. Jeff thank you so much!! You saved us from so much anguish! We were going to close on a house with a huge yard. Little did we know that the build line was misrepresented. A pool was essential for us. We selected Athena after receiving many bids (the most honest straight forward bid). Well to be honest I never even got off the ground with these guys. I am purchasing my families first pool so I knew nothing about the process. I went ahead and got pre approved for 75K not knowing what we would end up paying. Jeff called me and asked me a few questions and asked what I wanted to pay. I can not say enough good things about Jeff & Athena Pools. First of all, the turn around time for the design was incredibly fast. Of course I wanted to change some things & he was able to get the revisions back to me usually within the same day. We are so glad we went with Jeff to build our pool. After looking into a few other companies and not exactly being totally impressed, the choice to use Athena was clear. As luck would have it, our build was revealed soon in the process to be a challenge due to the geography of our yard. I cannot imagine another person being more responsive, patient and wise than Jeff as he worked with us through the challenges to achieve the perfect finished product. I doubt if we had gone with a different pool builder we would've been as happy with the results as we have been with Athena.

Jeff did a fantastic job on our pool, but more importantly, he was honest, professional, and did exactly what he said he'd do from the very first meeting to the final day on site.
