Owned and operated by Michael and Marietta O'Mara, Weststar is a family-run business that is dedicated to providing fast, reliable and courteous service to all of our neighbors in San Diego County, be they residential or commercial.
If you have a heating appliance with a venting system in your home - whether it's a fireplace or a dryer - Weststar Chimney Sweeps wants to help keep it performing at its best. They're both moving toxic byproducts out of your home and keeping high heat away from combustible materials. They both need to have maintenance and repairs performed by experienced, certified professionals.
The National Fire Protection Association's standard for chimneys and fireplaces calls for homeowners to have their system inspected and swept each year in order to keep the system as safe as possible. Annual inspections and sweepings are an important part of maintaining your home, and can help ensure that your house is protected from the high heat of fire, and that your family is protected from the toxic gases that result from combustion.
When Weststar Chimney Sweeps are cleaning your masonry chimney, most of what we are working to remove is creosote, a highly combustible byproduct that builds up on your flue walls every time you use your fireplace. Creosote is extremely flammable and dangerous, so it's important that it be regularly removed from your flue walls.
A fireplace can be a truly wonderful addition to a home, and a great source of enjoyment for the people who live in it. I required a Chimney Sweep for my house and I found recommendations to a number from a local service. I called several times and there was no answer, however, finally there was an answer and it was a voice mail. The woman on the recording sounded like she was in distress and agitation. With constant sighing, she acted as if attempting to have a potential client empathize on the amount of work that is currently being managed through their business. I thought it was a little silly and found someone else. Advice to Weststar, first impressions matter.

Mike and Christian were great! Prompt and efficient. During the cleaning they showed us gas log options, which we also purchased and were installed the same day. Our living room is now complete and we can't wait to use our fireplace this winter. Would highly recommend Weststar Chimney Sweeps. I'll update soon with a photo!

Weststar came and cleaned our fireplace and chimney. I can't say enough good things about the experience. They were very professional, efficient and clean. When they left there was no mess or any dirt left behind. They were very good at explaining how our fireplace was built, prefab, which we did not know and also explained what accessories were safe to use and which were not. I would highly recommend these people.

I called Weststar Chimney Sweeps based on good reviews from yelp and I was not dissappointed. The woman who answered the phone was courteous and apologized that they had a 2 week wait to get someone one out. I need by dryer vent cleaned and I the cap on my chimney had come off. So I went ahead and made the appointment.
David Prenott showed up on the appointed day at the appointed time. He was professionally dressed in a dark uniform, he was polite, and he was without a doubt the bravest man I have seen in quite some time.

This was our first chimney cleaning service we have ever done. David was our service technician and not only was he the most professional man, he was clean and extremely knowledgeable on all matters of our chimney and what we needed. We just moved into our home a few months ago. We met the gentlemen of Weststar Chimney Sweeps at the Home Show in San Diego and made an appointment with them to check and clean our chimney.
They were professional, friendly, informative and on time. I now feel comfortable knowing that our home is safe when we use our fireplace.

The entire team at Weststar Chimney sweeps was awesome. Clean, professional, prompt, great follow up and they were extremely knowledgeable. David came out to clean our chimney. He made no mess at all and was very pleasant. He answered several questions and had great recommendations and he went above and beyond in helping me plan for my upgraded fireplace.
