When Jeff reached high school, business took off, and his younger brother Greg joined the team. The duo used their lawn care business as a way to finance their college education. After graduating, both brothers still wanted to pursue their landscaping dreams and began J&G in 1989.

Our yard was a disaster: the backyard was a steep slope nearly impossible to mow safely and the overall lawn was riddled with weeds and thick tree roots retarding any grass growth. After showing Jeff, he immediately provided a solution to regrade and resod the yard allowing us to easily maintain a natural environment. The team of Zech, Ben, Steve, and the whole team performed amazing work killing off the weeds naturally using vinegar, removing all problem trees, regrading and expanding the usable space thus enabling us to walk easily, driving back invasive plants, and finally preparing the topsoil

We had a major standing water issue in our backyard that we needed to address. We got quotes from several companies but J&G stood out in their approach to the problem. They found a simple solution that took into account and protected all the trees in our backyard. They put in a patio, rebuilt the retaining wall for our external staircase to the basement, regraded the yard, and redid the gutters around the house to move the water away from the foundation. When they left, the resided everything and basically left without a trace. Since they did the work this winter, we haven't had any water

Very disappointed with this company. Things started out well. They were responsive, showed up when they said they would. The stone work they did was good. But when we pointed out that mistakes were made it took forever to get them to come back and do the job right. We're still waiting for them to replace the dragon holly that they put in last spring which subsequently died over the summer. I've put in calls, scheduled dates but they failed to show or even call to let us know they weren't coming. It would be very hard for me to recommend this company.

We needed to replace corrugated pipes with PVC pipes to take water from our sum pump and gutters to the street. We had the entire length (about 20 feet) of the corrugated pipes already dug up and exposed 100% by our gardener when Jeff Potter from J & G Landscaping came to look at the project. He was thorough, looked at the sum pump, looked at the corrugated pipes and the path of the water to the street. He proposed to replace the corrugated pipes with PVC pipes and to add an additional small catch basin (in the grass) by the sidewalk. He also proposed to replace the pipes from the wall of the

Jeff was awesome to talk with. He came over for the reasonably-priced estimation appointment. Jeff was very down-to-earth and helpful. I can't say enough good things about this company. We moved into an old neighborhood in Bethesda that at one time had been tastefully landscaped but later became wild and overgrown. J & G turned our yard into a showpiece through careful planning and selection of plants. Two lovely touches they recommended that we would not have thought of were a water fountain/birdbath and garden bench. Their customer service is excellent in that they get back quickly by email to answer any concerns and they guarantee their plantings.
