We use the Victor dealership for service, we had a few bad experiences in the Henrietta dealership. Maybe it was bad luck or maybe the people we dealt with were having a bad day.
Everyone in Victor is very professional and extremely helpful. I used to NEVER bring my cars back to the dealership for service, but Van Bortel has raised the bar for service. I recommend buying a vehicle and don't hesitate to bring it back for service.

Van Bortel Subaru, and especially Kyle Moore, went beyond the call of duty to make the stressful experience of buying a car as good as it could be. Having lost a car in the floods in New Jersey, there were not enough Subarus left in NJ to buy. So, I had to trek about 325 miles to near Rochester, to get one at Van Bortel. I really appreciated Kyle's many helpful ways: the straightforward negotiations with him on the phone, his timely responsiveness to phone and email communications, his willingness to facilitate the preparation of the paperwork ahead of time (as we were arriving late in the day

In June of 2020, I traded up my 2015 Forester to a new 2020 Forester Sport with them, and was impressed by their professionalism and no-pressure sales environment. When my mom was looking to trade up her car, I decided to stop by with her to compare the deal offered by a more local to us dealer, and was glad that we did. The deal was more fair to her and she liked the new 2022 Legacy more than the cars the other dealership had on their lot. I recently needed to purchase a new to me car. It ultimately came down to purchasing from VanBortel or from another local auction site. Joe Nutella Victor New York parts department. Best helpful service ever I had lost the key to my car the one and only that is and he efficiently helped me figure out when where and how at an exceptional rate of speed to get a key ordered. However of course about 15 minutes after ordering this piece for my vehicle to be mobile again of course I found the key I called him right back and he helped me cancel the order which took some definite explanation and refunded my money automatically! Although it was a Friday evening with nearly all sales staff gone, the one sales rep gave a polite but brief opening. This was despite handling a couple in front of us. She gave us a Forester brochure with colors and the Van Bortel pamphlet with her business card for follow-up. It was a very curtious reception with no pressure.

Hey guys, here is another 5-star review! Let me emphasize that this is the BEST DEALERSHIP in the area, hands down.
I purchased my Crosstrek here in 2015 after hearing about many friends great experiences. They weren't wrong. There is no pressure for a sale, no BS, no haggling, no shady backroom conversations with the sales manager, etc... It is all upfront, honest, decent business practice.
I have also had some service done here. Service department was just like sales - honest and didn't try to get me to have work done that didn't absolutely need to be done.

My father and I had a fantastic experience shopping here. I arrived a little stressed with lack of sleep and the intention of leaving with a car that day. It didn't help that I knew nothing about buying a car.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and offered coffee and snacks. Sue our sales consultant was really patient and explained everything to us (sometimes multiple times) and allowed us to test drive several cars. Each time we came back she was there to ask for feedback. I remember years ago at another dealer, we had to wait long periods of time to get anything done. I was so frustrated

I went in for a multi-point inspection, to fix a small rattle, and to check out a small hesitation in acceleration. When I got the multi-point inspection sheet back, the section for brake pads and tire pressure wasn't filled in and several of my fluid levels hadn't been checked. When I asked about it, I was informed that it was a visual inspection only and if I wanted a brake inspection I should have mentioned it and I could have had them look at my brakes, but I would have to pay for it.

Way to make it right staff!
Bought my 2014 Forester here new and had my 90,000 mile service done this past week. Yes, lots of miles.
They told me I needed new tires. Agreed and Done...When I picked up car I was a bit annoyed they didn't tell me my cabin filter was in " the red." I would have gladly paid for that to be replaced.
Then I noticed this burning smell in my car... then something was leaking from under my car. ( I need the scary face emoji here!) Gina happily heard my concerns. Offered to correct the filter issue at no cost. My car was in next day and

I've been going here since 2012. I came across this place after having to buy a car in Brooklyn for a job in these parts, and then needing to get it serviced. Even when I moved back and was working in NYC, I would return here for the weekend just to have my car serviced, and get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC.

Horrible service. I bought a vehicle here about 13 years ago and my mechanic discovered the odometer had been tampered with. We ended up buying a new vehicle but no compensation. That vehicle died at 140k miles due to timing device and we went back to Van Bortel to look at a new/used car. There was no personal service whatsoever. I didn't receive a follow up call or anything. They just wanted to sell us a new vehicle. Very impersonal, and they just want a hard sale. There is no 102% money back guarantee whatsoever!

I'm on the road endlessly every day around New York state, driving any and every brand of rental car brands every day. When my turn signal bulb went out mid road trip, I stopped by here and even on a Ford, the Van Bortel Subaru team was able to fix it in minutes with a smile. Really great customer service and attentive staff.This was the most painless car purchase I've ever made and while I hope it will be a very long time before I have to buy another car I will go through them even though its the next city over. A huge plus is that they will text and email you with quick responses over having to call and do things a more old fashioned way. Additionally you can put up to 2,500 down on a credit card which is really helpful for racking up points if you card has a rewards system. Jim Pennell was our sales person and I recommend him as well.

We drove an hour and a half to visit here.
We have 2 other Subaru dealerships around us but we heard great things about this location. My only negative is that there is NO TITLE PERSON on Saturday!! So when we wanted to trade in our car and take a new one home, we had to come back, which was kind of a bummer and a bit annoying since it is so far from us.

Cody was our salesperson and he was SUPER nice and not pushy at all. He worked with us and explained all of the different models and answered our questions even though we asked them the same ones! I loved that we could take the car for a test

I had an excellent, prompt and pain-free experience buying my new WRX here at Van Bortel. They were very transparent about pricing and options. They didn't even want a deposit from me for my order; which either shows trust on their end to me, or they're just super confident that my car will sell if I back out. In hindsight, the latter is most plausible, ha ha. Vince, my sales rep, was awesome every step of the way and responded to my emails at all hours. I wish he kept that up after I signed my life away and drove the car home... Oh well, that's just business I guess. On to the next

I was a loyal customer for years 8+. I feel now that they have gotten too big for their britches. Every time I go in for service, a person comes out with a list of things that need to be fixed and it comes over as an over zealous sales pitch. The last time I got a second opinion at another shop who will remain nameless and I was straight up lied to about changes that should have been made that very day. (suggested by Van Bortel)

Granted the showroom is beautiful, the waiting area is very nice. Lots of snacks and beverages. They have computers you can work at or plug in on your own.

There's only two Subaru dealerships in the area and I've had experiences at both while shopping for a new car last summer. Of the two, this location is far better than Webster that I choose to drive 40 minutes to Canandaigua over a 5 minute drive to Webster.

I purchased my car a year ago and have been to Van Bortel a few times for maintenance. The downside is that they do not price negotiate, so I got a waft of arrogance from sales in the room. Even so, it seemed like the prices at VB were slightly lower than Webster. However, my one-to-one experience with my sales rep was courteous

Leased a 2015 Impreza. Vince and the entire staff were great, helpful, and never once pushy. I never felt pressured, only felt that they wanted to do whatever they could to meet my needs and budget and keep me happy. Courteous, patient staff. They really listen to you and what you want.

Would 100% recommend them to a friend or family member looking for a new car.

About 8-9 weeks ago, my wife and I stopped into Van Bortel to purchase a vehicle.

We knew going in that Van Bortel doesn't price negotiate and is generally a low-pressure sales environment since they are want to be known as a "volume" dealer.

They did not disappoint.

First, it was a crazy Saturday, overflowing with Sales people and customers. We soon had a sales person who asked us what we were looking for and quickly got us into a vehicle for a test drive. We tested a Legacy, a Forester, and then finally an Outback.

Well, the Misses decided we should purchase the Outback

I purchased a car here this past fall. Everyone was very friendly and not at all pushy, which is what I was looking for in a dealer. The salesman I worked with (Jeremy) didn't try to pressure me into spending more or getting a 'better' model than I wanted, and I negotiated a lower finance rate than my banks were offering.

Everything went smoothly (trading in my old car, switching insurance, etc) and there were no hidden costs or fees in the process. I would give the dealership five stars but my car took longer to arrive than they estimated, and I wasn't kept as much in the
