Services
Over the last 20 years we have seen many changes in the way people view Eichler homes. In the '70s & '80s Eichler's were the less expensive alternative to more "traditional" housing in the Bay Area. Today Eichler homes are in demand as homeowners have grown to appreciate the open architecture and "flow-through" glass design.
At Palo Alto Glass we specialize in providing the final touches to your new or remodeled bathroom project. From standard framed shower doors to modern frameless units, we can supply you with the shower enclosure that best suits your needs. Let's look at the two basic types of enclosures. First, we have the more traditional sliding or swinging fully framed doors with 3/16 thick tempered safety glass.
Mirrors are a very important part of your bathroom design, and experience is essential to determining the right fit for your needs. At Palo Alto Glass we use our 33 years of experience to help you design your custom mirrors to achieve the desired effect. Used properly they can expand a room to look twice its actual size; poor design can result in reflections you may not have expected.
Painted glass is becoming very popular for kitchen backsplashes, as it provides a colorful and sleek look. Another popular use for white painted glass is to create a beautiful custom whiteboard for your office space. No need to worry about if a standard color will match your decor - we can use any Kelly Moore paint color!
Whether you are looking to protect an existing table surface or have a base that needs a custom glass top, we can provide just what you're looking for. We provide glass tabletops and shelves from 1/8" to 3/4" thick, using a variety of glass types including clear, low-iron extra clear, satin etched, tinted, and obscure patterns.

We used Palo Alto glass to measure, purchase and install five very large, multi paneled sliding glass doors as well as giant windows panels. They were professional and nice and always had time to answer questions. Everything arrived on time, on budget and we couldn’t be happier

Ordered several panes of glass for work to use as light boards. Sapphire glass is something we've never worked with. Palo Alto Glass was very helpful by providing a bottle of cleaning fluid for this type of glass and gave us some suggestions on how to clean it. The ordering process was very easy. And the orders were completed quicker than we expected. There was a tiny hiccup on one order, but they rectified it quickly and professionally. We had one set delivered. It was on time and well packaged for safety and prevention from scratching. We picked up the other order and the staff was incredibly

I called to get info for smart glass and Dave took the time to listen, gave his recommendation and gave us his contact for referral - even though they won't be able to work on the project because of location.

The team at Palo Alto Glass went above and beyond. We just wrapped up replacing all of our single pane windows and sliding doors with dual pane. Kim was great with scheduling and communication throughout the project, esp working around some surprise work that popped up. The crew was friendly, in particular Mo, who has an eye for details and insisted on re-installing a door because he wasn't happy with the finish. We appreciated the team's efforts even after the job was complete. Dave tested out some aftermarket products to try and help us with a site specific issue - totally unexpected

As Eichler owners, we've wanted to replace our original glass sliding doors with dual-pane ones for quite some time, and add safety film and caulking to the many others around the house.

Dave, Kim and the Palo Alto Glass team were incredibly helpful with quoting, coordinating and follow-up throughout the whole process. Given the price of those huge, gorgeous doors, we appreciated their attention to detail and fantastic, quick service. They were also very accommodating about Covid protocols and safety.

We had a couple of small issues we noticed after the install, and Dave was prompt in responding

Employees were not following Covid protocols, no masks, and they were smoking cigarettes on my sidewalk and throwing them in my driveway. Guy made a fire danger, a smoldering pile of leaves due to his reckless cigarette disposal. What a dangerous company!

First class company: product, service, and honesty. We used them when we remodeled our house and again when our landscaper broke our window. The owner Dave and his staff are personable, responsive, smart, and fair. The two men that came to fix the glass during covid time were very professional, competent, and handled my kids playing in the yard with ease.

This is the type of company all businesses should strive to be and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Palo Alto glass made two large sheets of glass for us to cover shelves on a wood console table. They completed the order quickly & had it carefully wrapped for our pickup and transport.

Great customer service all around! Thank you!

Just replaced two large jalousie (living room) windows in an Eichler-style house. Palo Alto Glass was very easy to deal with. Appointments for estimation, detailed measurement, and install were efficient and on time. No pressure for sales. Installation by Ken was excellent. Very easy to do business with and did a fine job. Would use again.

What a rip off! Do not recommend this place. Quoted me a thousand dollars for a coffee table glass with bevel. Unbelievable. I found it for 300. Good luck trying that on others.

Over the last 23 years, we have used Palo Alto Glass for 3 major projects: our home renovation, an addition, and large cottage next to our home. We live in an Eichler and have 20 sliding glass doors and many floor to ceiling windows. And over the years, they have done an excellent job.
About 7 years after installation, 2 of the doors developed a problem where the seal or spacer between the double panes sagged. Although the doors were functioning normally, they offered to replace them, and again, they did a beautiful job.
I highly recommend Palo Alto Glass. They do a very good job on the initial

One of our window was damaged by termites terribly, so I asked the Home Depot window service to come by to give me a estimate. The guy was not much motivated to take the job because it is one window. I don't blame him though, so I decided to take on this task on my own instead. I shopped for a few window companies and only Palo Alto Glass stood out. Kim from customer service team is insanely great and she made sure I got the great advice from their window expert. I am so happy to repair all the damaged wood and put up a nice beautiful window myself. Thanks Kim.

I needed a repair of an old aluminum window handle and Dave was the only one able to offer a fix for me. They did a quality job the same day I brought the window in. This is a very professional organization for big and small jobs. You won't be disappointed if you work with them!!

It seems that these guys are the undisputed leaders when it comes to replacing and updating glass in an Eichler. They are committed to keeping the original look and design of the eichler windows. What they do, in short, is take tempered glass and put two panes into your existing wooden frames. Where necessary, they will rebuild/strengthen your frames with redwood (as in the original construction). The Eichler look is preserved but you get the benefit of double pane insulation and the safety of tempered glass.

When we were contemplating buying our Eichler, I searched high and low for a reasonable

I was going to wait until our project was complete to write my review, but I felt the need to write something now as the service I've received from Palo Alto Glass has truly been exceptional. Kim who has helped me throughout much of our project, is always attentive, provides timely updates, and just a real pleasure to work with. My interactions with Dave have been just as great as well.

Their expertise to help answer my million questions has really put me at ease in a process that I don't have a lot of knowledge about. I'm looking forward to finishing out project to enjoy all

Palo Alto Glass was recommended to us because they specialize in replacing Eichler windows. They did an excellent job replacing our windows and sliders while retaining the original Eichler "look." That is, they measure and custom build the windows to fit. That was 5 years ago.

We recently contacted PA Glass because our sliders were "squeaking" (caused by rubber trim on the roller screen). Dave came by and not only fixed both sliders, but cleaned all the rollers--no charge.

Thanks for the wonderful service!

We used Palo Alto Glass to replace several large 6x10 ft windows in our Eichler home in San Mateo. They did a fantastic job!

We trusted them to install the glass when we were at work. When we got home, everything was done expertly & the place in & out was super clean. They were able to re-use our existing trim boards, which makes it very easy to touch up the paint.

I found their communication with me to be open & timely.

I would definitely recommend them to other Eichler owners particularly.

Called as one industry professional to another with some questions about a specific product. The woman was enormously pained to take literally two minutes out of her day to answer a question calling it a "huge waste of time". All because I'm not in their service area. Unfortunately for them all of my colleagues and family that do business in their service area will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

I had them make a few glass covers for desks. They were not necessarily the best communicators, but what they lacked in communication skills they made up for in product and installation service. The guys who installed were just great-arrived on time, had tape and sharpie at the ready as I realized that I had failed to disconnect the many wires which had to be disconnected prior to placement of glass, exercised patience and were really just so pleasant to have around, and professional too.

I needed a new lid for my aquarium, and Palo Alto glass made a new one quickly and for a great price!

Last Sunday, I broke the lid on my aquarium. It's a rectangular kit that I bought at Petsmart two years ago. Petsmart didn't have a replacement lid, nor did Amazon.

Turns out that, even though my aquarium is rectangular, it's a non-standard shape.

I brought the broken pieces of my lid to Palo Alto glass, and the next day I picked up the lid. Even though this was only a small job, they treated me very well.

When I'm ready for bigger custom glass work, I will go back!

This review is for the estimation process that occurred a few months ago, as I was so disappointed in the lack of professionalism and money grubbing nature of Palo Alto Glass, I did not go through with the job.

There were several weeks delay before I was first contacted back to make an appointment - I left numerous voicemails.

But the worst part was that Palo Alto Glass did not honor their quote when it came down to signing the paperwork. They had to come out again to remeasure because I added a new piece of glass, and during that time, they redid my original quote to almost double the original

PA Glass was recommended to me as "the guys" to do a small window job at my office in Palo Alto. I called and made a date for an estimate. They didn't show up on time; I found out from a tenant that they'd been by earlier and had measured all kinds of things (I guess since I wasn't there to show them the particular window that needed repair).

I waited for a call from them... and waited... and waited.

8 days later I got a voicemail: "Calling to discuss your window." I called back and asked, "Do you think I'd hire you now, when you missed our appointment

For those who own Eichler homes, there comes a time when all that wonderful, original single-paned glass needs to go. For me, it was during an extensive remodel of my parents old house in Palo Alto, and wanting future occupants to be both safe and comfortable.

Palo Alto Glass seems to have a pretty good franchise going in replacing Eichler windows, and for good reason -- they do a terrific job. Dave Stellman and his crew are great to work with, doing the job on time with no hassles, and all are highly trained and courteous.
