Established in 1971 by Jamshid (Jim) Soomekh has grown into one of the largest oriental rug stores in America. With a store size of 6,000 square feet, and one of the largest rug inventories, it is truly a Chicago landmark. Caspian Rugs (named for the Caspian Sea which boarders Iran and Russia and lies in the center of the oriental rug world), has grown from a small establishment into the premier store for all origins of hand-woven rugs.
Jim has grown his collection into a museum treasure of masterpiece antiques, arguably one of the largest in Chicago, along with over 100 oversized rugs. Caspian has very fine rugs and an interesting method of displaying them so you can pick the ones you like without having to wait to get to the bottom of the pile.
The guys are extremely friendly, fair, easy going and helpful. Great experience and wound up with an amazing rug. I purchased a runner and wow it is such a statement piece. Definitely going back for more. I couldn't be more impressed with how it sets off my white halls.

Services
Have an older hand-woven piece that you just don't care for any more, doesn't fit in your new home, or inherited? It's very difficult to sell on your own. We can evaluate your rug and if we feel it is marketable, we can purchase it from you. We mainly look for pieces over 40 years old. If you are looking for a new rug and want to get rid of the one you have, we can possibly purchase your rug and give you credit towards an upgrade in our store.

I just took my very experience 8x10 oriental rug for professional cleaning at Caspian. I would never make the same mistake twice. They charged me a cleaning fee of $280 plus an extra $200 for spot cleaning. When I arrived to pick up I noticed there was the same spot when I dropped it off. The salesman just argued with me and indicated I should.of told him about that spot that nobody noticed while spot cleaning. They lost a customer for life.and I will tell many others. Update. Caspian sent someone to pick up my rug at my house and properly cleanwd it as needed. They also dropped.it back off at
