Traditional rugs are likely what people imagine most often when they think of an area rug. Full of intricate designs and bold colors, traditional rugs are not lacking in vivacity and artistry. They come in all types of patterns, colors, and styles. Sometimes a traditional rug is simpler with uniform shapes and borders.
Transitional rugs are a mix between traditional and modern. They usually include a touch of the traditional style and motif with a flare for the contemporary in color and simplicity. Transitional rugs stick to more neutral tones like beiges, browns, whites, and blacks. However, there are some transitional rugs in vibrant reds and blues- but their patterns remain elegant and simple.
Several motifs that tribal weavers have incorporated in their designs retain features of an ancient artistic style. This style made frequent use of real and mythological animals and birds, and of parts of these creatures, including heads, antlers, and horns. Art historians have given this style various names, depending on factors of time, place, and stylistic emphasis.

Kelly was a true gentleman, and was able to offer a fine selection of beautiful handmade rugs. A wide selection in both age and region of origin makes this a unique rug shop worth checking out.
