Horrendous service. Outrageously overpriced. Had them come to my house to seal the flu and fill in a gap in the firebox. The flu was not ever weaker, had someone else come in and complete the job. Also made a mess in my fireplace. Cement was all over the place. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Also gave me a quote for a "necessary" chimney liner at between $5-10000. Additional contractor who completed the flu job (for free). Said that the price of the liner quoted was double what it should be and that it was a completely unnecessary job.
Go with ANYONE ELSE.

Called this company to get a price on a chimney liner which I was told they could do. Charged me $375 to tell me what work needs to be done: a chimney liner which I already knew! Then tells me they'll get me an estimate from the company who does liners so they don't do liners. I'm sure this company does great chimney cleanings but they don't do everything they'll lead you to believe!
PS: I never received the liner estimate I was promised!

Bob and his co worker did a great job sweeping the chimney and fixing our chimney cap. He even went the extra step to fix one of my gutters, He was very knowledgeable and took the time to inform me of the overall condition of my chimney and what to do to keep it safely maintained. He was honest with his pricing and did try to sell me on products I didn't need. My family has found there chimney company. Great work Top Hat & Tails !!!

I had a great experience with Top Hat and Tails Chimney Service. I dealt with the owner Bob Harris. This was no minor job. My fireplace had some exhaust issues (a bit too much smoke in the house) so I had him install an exhaust system on top of the chimney. Specifically, an Enervex Exhaust Fan. He (along with his electrician) installed it perfectly, and it works great. I was, and remain very satisfied with the job.

Bob and his assistant from Top Hat & Tails cleaned, inspected, and repaired my chimney earlier this week and I highly recommend! After leaving several messages and not getting a return call from a locally recommended company here in Chatham, I decided to try the service that the prior owner had used here at my home. Bob not only returned my call within 24 hours, but he also called the day of the appointment to let me know that he was running a few minutes late due to problems he had found at his first job that day. He was very efficient and careful with my home, making sure he did not get soot

We've lived in our house for 15 years and had several chimney cleaning services, including one bozo who left his brush in our chimney. Bob and TH&T came highly recommended and lived up their reputation. They are on time; do a great job for a fair price; and offer sensible safety advice, including showing me how to build a great fire in my narrow Victorian-era fireboxes. This is my second ever yelp review. If I could give zero stars...Bob of top hat & tails seemed like a nice guy. After arriving 1/2 hour after specified time, and then for another 30 minutes I had to help him fix his equipment, I was called away to a previously scheduled appointment. I thought he would just clean the chimney and go, so I left my wife a check to pay for it. Bob's price quote was 195 USD to clean and inspect the chimney. I've worked with Bob of Top Hat and Tails for the last two years and have always been happy with his professionalism and friendliness.
