Mike and Tony helped us with a Mendota fireplace this year. They are knowledgeable and straight forward with planning and pricing. I noticed other reviews stating the staff was rude, however I found that they sprinkle in some humor and perhaps it is being misunderstood. The pandemic came with a lot of difficulties, so a bit of facetious humor, for me, kept it light. Ultimately, I'm glad I chose to work with them and am satisfied with my fireplace. Plus, our dog loves it too.

I went into Acme Stove today, it was the 4th business I tried to find a very small piece for my fireplace glass door. A very nice man
asked me what he could help me with and I placed this tiny silicone piece on the counter. He showed me one of his sample doors and explained that it's not an easy thing to find. I left my name and number knowing that it could take ages or not available at all. To my delight he called me back this evening and told me he managed to find a 4' strip. I need an inch BUT will take it all!! I highly recommend Acme Stove Company. So thrilled!!!

Rude condescending sales staff. Nobody acknowledged when we went to the store. We waited for the salesman to finish his lunch and then requested help in selecting a fireplace. The salesman seemed to be not interested in helping and we got snarky answers to our queries. We felt unwelcome and was relieved to get out of the store. Avoidable place!!

We needed to replace our Mendota gas fireplace insert and went to Acme Stove because it is the only local Mendota dealer. Tony was very helpful in answering all of our questions and arranging for the purchase and installation of the correct size Mendota insert. I purchased a gas fireplace from Tony and Mike a few years ago. The reason I purchased from them in the first place was based on their selection (better than their competitors), their prices and their customer service (Mike is just a cool guy). Anyway, not soon after installation, it was apparent that there was a leak in the burner. They came out super-fast and fixed it. Then after the warranty expired, I had some issues with some of the logs and the burner had developed another small leak. This is a great place, my contractor told me about when I wanted to add a gas line to my wood burning fireplace. I called and asked if they had some on hand and they did. Told me to come on by and they could tell me all about them. I drove down they took there time with me to show me all the different options and price ranges. Showed me and informed of all safety information. Staff is friendly and safe with masks on. Even let me know if I had questions to call them, which I did and spent the time and instructed on my unit I bought. Highly recommend for top quality units.

Great place to deal with around the grill I bought 4 years ago. The burners were starting to rust out and I had an upcoming small gathering to grill and chill. The main guy helped me sort out the burner I needed, gave me some advice on how to better heat up my grill for searing steaks, and to clean the racks better. I probably could have gone another year on the burner according to him but I err on the side of my forgetfulness and replaced early. We were looking for a fireplace for a kitchen renovation. My initial contact with Acme in Rockville was ok. I visited the location and the sales associate Jesse seemed knowledgeable. I sent over the plans and he was going to circle back with his team and provide several options. That's when it all started going South. There was no proactivity on his part, I had to call back every day and he acted as though he had never spoken to me each time I called. A great place to find some of the more obscure accessories for a wood stove that you never, in your life, imagined that you'd ever want or need! Thank you, Tony, for researching the difficult to find parts and suggestions for effective substitutes when they are not available from the manufacturer. Dealing with a public of insufferable know-it-alls with money to burn, especially in the wide-ranging matters of technical specs, building codes, funky old houses, and aesthetics can be challenging. Tony went above and beyond. I explained that we were having Thanksgiving Dinner at our house and needed the gas logs before Wednesday. He had them for me 2 days later. When the gas hose was not included in the box he gave me the last one in his store.

My gas firelog stopped working. I went to 3 other fireplace companies in the area before going to Acme Stove. And I'm so glad I went to Acme before making any decision! There's this really nice guy there named Tony. He pulled out some parts and walked me through how to fix my problem. It was a super simple fix and only took me about 5 minutes to do when I got home. I just need to buy a cannister of air from Home Depot for $8. Voila!
He saved me nearly $1500. Every other competitor in the area told me I had to buy a new fireplace and they all wanted around $1500.

In short they were fantastic! Mike was extremely helpful and double checked the details to make sure we were happy! We ordered fireplace doors for our 12 year old home. He also talked me through the installation with a fair warning that it was a job for a rather handy person which lucky for me I am. Following his tips I was able to install the doors for the holidays! We love them and really appreciate the service from Acme Stove Company!

BEYOND rude. Our parents had safety questions about a fireplace they bought and had installed by their contractor. Tony was incredibly rude, short, and wouldn't let my husband get his questions out because he "already spoke with the contractor and our parents". The fireplace is setting off the fire alarm and we had safety questions we wanted to clarify for our parents.
Avoid this place at all costs.
Sounds like Tony needs to find a new job where he doesn't have to deal with people. Ever.

Dont remember why a dock of one star is posted but what ever it was, they made up for by springing this awesome Mendota gas insert on us that was a jewel. This is a traditional , no big whoop brick rambler 1961 vintage in Arlington and somehow they found out that we have a 1755 historic log rustic house and selected this black rounded top insert face that looks awesome. I, who am an artist chose this contemporary model but it would be BLAHZAY. This early American iron look front, simple black thing screams "statement" . Came here looking for a very specific stove from Vermont Castings and they were listed as a vendor. After waiting five minutes for someone to speak with us, we were introduced to Tony who we told we were looking for a small wood burning stove to heat an all season porch. You will go here because honestly there are few vendors that have the selection and they are well located if you are in the NOVA area.
You will meet a portly guy named Tony White, a Duck Dynasty type, who will ignore you while he speaks to other clients with great authority. You will be impressed by his knowledge. "Oh, here's a real gas geek, not like the big store guys" you'll say.

The remote control for the gas fireplace stopped working. The previous homeowners who had it installed five years ago left all receipts and manuals--so I know they bought it at Acme Stove.
When I called, the guy was very curt with me at first, and it only went downhill from there. First he said, "it's probably a battery issue." No. "Well, have you checked the receiver?!" and because he was SO patronizing and rude, I was stunned, and didn't react RIGHT AWAY, and he barked "I'll take that as a no!"
